Try and Try Again / Sing Like Talking
First album of S.L.T.And very high completeness -especially "Dancin' With Your Lies".Although Chikuzen's vocals show his youth, we can see his singing technique was already prominent -especially from "Raining Blues".I read about "Kimiga inakereba" (without you): Back then, Chikuzen just started to play the keyboards, and when he was inquiring into harmony with keyboards, this song was born spontaneously.The members -Chikuzen Satou, Chiaki Fujita, Tomohiko Nishimura- are classmates of high school in Aomori.In 1982, they went to Tokyo and formed a band, aspiring for professional.In 1986, they applied for a band contest with "Try and Try Again".They won first prize, and got a chance to make a debut.After that, they took part in recordings of other musicians for a while: The producer back then intended to have them learn a lot about music business.Chikuzen sang a jingle of Coca-Cola, too.Then they finally got a chance to record their first album.However, when almost all the songs were finished, Chikuzen decided to record the album from scratch.He thought that the sound being finished at that time would be different from where S.L.T. wanted to go.And the producer and staff understood how they wanted to be, and let them do what they wanted.This episode shows how they have been faithful on music they want to create with strong belief from the beginning.On Sep. 30, 1988, they made a debut with a single "Dancin' With Your Lies".Jeff Porcaro and Nathan East took part in their debut concert.According to Chikuzen, they encouraged S.L.T. saying that S.L.T. would not make a hit immediately, but they would be recognized in the future -and told them to believe themselves and music they want to create.As they predicted, S.L.T. went through hardship -until they gradually rose in popularity and their 6th album "Encounter" and 7th album "Togetherness" won first place of hit chart.Today is 20-year anniversary of S.L.T's professional career.November 1, 1988, BMG Fun House, FHCF-9516◇ :Ready to place translation if asked

光源氏 さかさまに行かぬ年月よ ～美しき男たちの「源氏音かたり」～
いづれの御時にか、女御、更衣あまたさぶらひたまひける中に、いとやむごとなききはにはあらぬが、すぐれて時めきたまふありけり。…大分タイムラグですみません。あやふやな部分および敬称略（2008年9月23日 at梅田芸術劇場）源氏が最愛の妻・紫の上を亡くし、悲しみに暮れる場面から語り(橋爪淳）は始まります。"我は一体何を求めて生きてきたのか？ 悟りの地から遠く離れてなお生きながらえていく…"己の人生を振り返りながら語りは進みます。源氏の母親・桐壺の宮は帝から寵愛されていたが、それ故他の女たちに妬まれいじめられ、病に倒れる。そして源氏は母の面影も知らず、母を恋い慕い、亡き母の生き写しと言われる義母・藤壺の宮に憧れを抱き、藤壺の宮の代わりに心を埋めてくれる女性を求め続ける…―東儀秀樹奏でる雅楽は奈良時代から受け継がれてきたもの、一方、バイオリン(古澤巌）、ピアノ(塩谷哲）、テノール（ジョン･健・ヌッツォ）（日本の声楽ではない声楽）は1000年前の日本にはなかったもの。1000年の時を超え、ステージでそれらが一体になり、プラス、音楽が形のない時間芸術なのに対し空間芸術の華道(小川珊鶴）も加わって光源氏の心を織り上げていくという、不思議な異空間が生まれました。藤壺の宮の生き写しの紫の上と出会い結婚に至るが、優しさだけでは満ち足りず…試練を乗り越え栄華を極めても、心は虚ろに響き…千年を共に生きようと誓った紫の上がこの世を去ってしまい、紫の上を思い偲び独りきり…"私は光の君、無常を生きた、私は光源氏！"光を受け入れ解き放たれるに至るラストは圧巻でした。SALTファン仲間からお誘いをいただいてから、「源氏物語」 （比較的読みやすい新訳版が図書館にあった）を一通り読破してにわか予習しましたが、女性による女性の物語を男だけで、源氏の目から見た源氏を語るとあんな風になるのだなあ―と、二人で感動しておりました。また、SALTさんのクラシックコンサートを観たことがない私には、SALTさんが竹善さんのライブやご自身のライブでは見せないような新たな一面を見つけられた思いでした。

Recently, I learned a point of view that we attract situation and people suitable for us just like magnet.In other words, like attracts like -as I placed before.Come to think of it...I'm thinking of my tiny distress I faced before: There was a task I was really reluctant to do because people I didn't want to see were coming.At first I tried to avoid it, but on second thought, I decided to face the problem.Then the people concerned turned out to be absent and this matter was called off. (See Feb. 17, 2008)Later, I heard that the contact with those people concerned was lost just after my decision.Was it because I decided to face the hardship without escaping?Then:Now I'm thinking of another troublemaker I met with:I remember that I didn't have good first impressions as I found she was making a lot of difficult orders to people around her.Later, she approached me with a kind of interesting opportunity, but soon, her attitude changed quite abruptly and began to make unreasonable orders.Of course I declined it.I suppose she didn't intend to use me, but just set her goal too high without considering the reality and then tried to rely on me -I'm not going to blame her.Was it because I attracted such troublemakers -considering my tumult at that point- , or just bad luck?◇ :Ready to place translation if asked

ショック ―だったこと
今月頭に美容院に行ったとき、2ヶ月弱前と同じ店で同じ人が担当だったのですが、 "前回と比べて髪に艶がなくなっている"と言われてしまいました。 振り返ればいくつか思い当たる節はありましたが― ・5月末に急に髪のまとまりが悪くなり、折しもそれまで使っていたトリートメントが手に入らず、変えたのが合わなかった可能性 ・とにかく7月中の急な猛暑―髪も夏バテしたのかも ・ストレス説。確かに高校時代に受験ストレスと身内の不幸のダブルパンチで十円ハゲができたことはありますが。 ―色々な事が重なったでしょうし、断定できる決め手は見当たらず。 とにかく―8月頭には、ちらっと書いたとおり、病院に行く元気もありませんでしたから―8/13の竹善さんのライブで、いわば急速充電完了状態まで回復。 9/4のblues.the-butcherのライブでエネルギー酔いしたのは、あの時点で私にはちょっとした荒療治だったかも。その後、清掃登山に参加して久しぶりに山歩きをし、バランスを取り戻した―という次第です。 あと、8月末からヨガを始めました。 初めて行ったときは、普段使わない筋肉を使ったせいか、翌日に全身がだるくなってしまいましたが、何度もやっているうちに慣れるでしょう。 これは、ストレスから抵抗力が落ちることで風邪を引くことが度重なったこと、子供の頃から毎年しもやけに悩まされてきたことから、以前より家族からも勧められていました。 やっと初秋と言えるかどうか、の今から冬の話をするのは気が早いですが― この冬はしもやけにならないといいのですが。

楽器バトン

Again!?
Now the major concern is who is coming next after Prime Minister Fukuda suddenly resigned.Again, I felt disgusted wondering what politics had been to Fukuda and Abe when I read about the background of Fukuda's resignation on newspaper.Anyway, back to the main story: In the Lower House election in autumn 2005, the ruling party won a landslide victory because many voters voted for them. So did the governor of a prefecture who is also a lawyer and an entertainer.And the result is current situation, for better or for worse.Often, politics sounds like something beyond the reach, but election is one of the opportunity we can indicate our intentions.If politicians or political parties I had voted for turned out to be disappointing, I would not vote for them or these political parties next.However, if I voted for someone or a political party just because they were popular or well-known, or thinking "You can't fight city hall", those disappointing results would be partly because I vote for them.Beyond that, if I didn't vote, I would have no right to complain until the next election, since I had left all the decision-making to others.In short, all I want to say is: Be sure to vote at the next election to make the most of opportunity we can indicate our intentions.◇ :Ready to place translation if asked

Special concert is on air on TV!
Late-night music show "Myu-jin" -various musicians have been introduced in this program.I placed introduction on November 14, 2007 after Chikuzen Satou was introduced , and March 17, 2008 after Toshiki Kadomatsu was introduced.Nine musicians and groups who had appeared on this program got together for a special concert on August 21 at Zepp Tokyo.Some songs performed on this special stage are on air.On TV Tokyo chain: Latter half on Sep. 14, from 10:54 p.m. to 11:24 p.m.On BS Japan: First half on Sep. 12, Latter half on Sep. 19, both from 10:00 p.m. to 10:30 p.m.Casts: Kotaro Oshio, Hiroko Kokubu, Chikuzen Satou, Jake Shimabukuro, Aoi Teshima, Rimi Natsukawa, BEGIN, Nanae Mimura, Kazufumi Miyazawa on GANGA ZUMBAI watched the first half on TV Tokyo chain on Sep. 7 -it was great! I enjoyed various performance, especially "Stand By Me" by Chikuzen and BEGIN.I can hardly wait to watch the latter half on Sep. 14.

再びGet Going
9月4日のblues.the-butcher-590213 at神戸チキンジョージ ゲスト：近藤房之助 ―の前に―2007年4月20日―浅野"ブッチャー"祥之さんが亡くなられたのを翌日に知った時、泣き過ぎて消耗したのが悪かったかショックからか、風邪を引いたのが元で気管支炎になってダウン。 (2007.5.15参照）そんな具合だったので、1/19のblues.the-butcher-590213（2008.1.25参照）のライブ会場でブルースパワーのDVDを買ったものの、見たら泣いてしまうかもしれないと一時は懸念していました―が、案外そうでもなく、むしろ浅野さんがいちばんやりたかった音楽への想いの一端に触れられてよかったと胸がいっぱいになりました。1/19に席が隣同士になった方が、全ての音楽はブルース―と言っていたように、浅野さんの面影を探していた1回目と比べてその後は、色んな音楽の根っこのブルースを垣間見られるようなb.t-bのライブも楽しめるように。 (2008.4.5参照）また、去年はとても聴く気になれなかったブルースパワーのアルバムをやっと入手、今ではお気に入りの1枚です。 （2008.4.25参照）とはいえ―昔のSING LIKE TALKINGやAGHARTAの映像を見たらまた泣いてしまうかもしれません。同じ理由で、角松敏生さんやFOUR of a KINDのライブ映像を見たらもっと色々思い出せるのでしょうが―やはり泣いてしまうかもしれません。

Sounds close but different
Recently I learned to realize my misunderstanding I had been holding-・Loving myself is NOT self-conceit nor narcissism:We can't truly love another without loving ourselves first.In short, loving myself leads to real self-confidence."Believing myself" might be easier idea to understand and accept -I suppose at present.・Responsibility and blame is different:The word "responsibility" consists of "response" and "ability", I was taught.Taking responsibility for something is future-oriented idea, thinking what we can do next.On the other hand, irresponsibility -or sifting the blame- is blaming other people or situation; past-oriented idea, and no one can change the past.By the way - as I was translating today's sentences using on-line dictionary, I found an explanation saying:Taking responsibility for something does not mean resignation, but admitting your responsibility for the problem when it occurs, and taking measures to deal with the situation.A related story is coming later...◇ :Ready to place translation if asked

LIVE WITH the CORNERSTONES '07 / Chikuzen Satou
Chikuzen went on a tour "WITH the CORNERSTOENS 2007" after "Cornerstones 4" (See Dec. 16, 2007) was on sale.This was the third tour with his cover works "Cornerstones" series.That time, musicians were only two guitarists Masaki Matsubara and Tuyoshi Kon, and Naoki Takao for chorus and percussion -it's an unusual musical combination.On stage, Chikuzen said that he tries something different on stage at every concert tours with "Cornerstones":The stage is completely different from his usual concert tours.Both Matsubara and Kon are guitarists with career since 1970s who have worked together with various musicians and performed numberless songs.Chikuzen has respected them since he was a high school student.Actually, Chikuzen met Matsubara and Kon and worked together a little around the time of his debut.Twenty years later, they took part in recordings of "Cornerstones 4".In this album, 15 songs are selected and included from various songs performed on stage -not only songs included in his cover albums but also different songs.Those songs are arranged by Matsubara and Kon on halves.We can enjoy performance by two great guitarists Matsubara and Kon -it would be attractive for guitar freaks, too.They are members of a legendary band "Parachute"."Sylvia", a song of Parachute and "Miura Wind", performed by only Matsubara and Kon, are selected as a respect for them.Chikuzen says that although this is a live album, this could be regarded as "Cornerstones 5" featuring Matsubara, Kon, and Takao.March 26 2008, Universal Music Japan, UPCH-1586◇ :Ready to place translation if asked
