Tamboran Resources Corporation ( NYSE:TBN , ASX:TBN , OTC:TBNRL , FRA:O8R ) has appointed chief executive officer (CEO) Todd Abbott as managing director as the company moves from appraisal into development of its Beetaloo Basin gas assets in the Northern Territory.
The appointment takes effect on October 19, 2026, and formalises Abbott's executive leadership at board level, following his appointment as CEO in January.
Abbott brings more than 25 years of oil and gas experience spanning unconventional shale operations, infrastructure, strategy, business planning and corporate finance.
Beetaloo development follows first gas sales
FIrst gas sales from its Shenandoah South Pilot Project, delivering the first supplies from the Beetaloo Basin to the Northern Territory gas market, were announced in September. Abbott highlighted the sales as a milestone during a pivotal period for the company.
Tamboran and joint venture partner Daly Waters Energy LP delivered the first gas into the territory's network, marking the start of the project's commissioning phase.
Production is expected to progressively increase to 40 terajoules per day by early 2027, reaching the volume contracted to the Northern Territory Government under a long-term take-or-pay agreement.
During commissioning, Tamboran and Daly Waters Energy will receive a discounted gas price to reflect the interruptible nature of supply.
Tamboran's broader strategy is to supply natural gas to the Northern Territory, Australia's east coast and Asia Pacific markets as it develops the basin's resources.
Chair Richard Stoneburner said Abbott's experience would support the company through its next phase.
"Todd brings more than two decades of upstream experience with a strong record of safety, operational and strategic leadership and capital discipline," Stoneburner said.
The material terms of Abbott's appointment remain unchanged from those announced when he became CEO.
