Immunic Inc ( NASDAQ:IMUX , FRA:10VA ) will host a virtual Research and Development Day focused on progressive multiple sclerosis (MS) on November 5, the late-stage biotechnology company said on Thursday.
The event will outline the company's plans to initiate a Phase 3 trial of its lead investigational asset, vidofludimus calcium (IMU-838), in progressive MS later in 2026.
Immunic's management team will present, including CEO Erik Lundgren, Chief Medical Officer Michael Panzara, Chief Scientific Officer Hella Kohlhof and President and Chief Operating Officer Jason Tardio.
Two experts in the treatment of MS and development of new therapies will also speak: Jiwon Oh of the University of Toronto's Division of Neurology and Maria Pia Sormani of the University of Genoa in Italy.
The group will discuss the key unmet needs in progressive MS and the need for innovative approaches to therapies that target novel mechanisms associated with neurodegeneration and disease progression.
Management will highlight the potential expansion opportunity for vidofludimus calcium in progressive MS, including the clinical and scientific rationale for the trial.
The drug's profile includes activity as a nuclear receptor-related 1 (Nurr1) activator, and the potential neuroprotective effects linked to that mechanism provide the scientific rationale for evaluating it in progressive forms of MS, the company said.
