Mysterious trader moves $20M before Trump’s 8 PM ultimatum

U.S. President Donald Trump again issued a threat to Iran on Apr. 7, saying , "A whole civilization will die tonight, never to be brought back again."

Whether Iran's leadership accedes to the U.S. demand to open the Strait of Hormuz or not will decide the future course of the war, the president indicated.

Trump has threatened to attack every bridge and power plant in Iran beginning 8 PM ET on Apr. 7 if the West Asian country doesn't open the Strait of Hormuz.

While both countries have put forward detailed de-escalation proposals, each side has rejected the other's so far.

The U.S. 15-point plan included a 30-day ceasefire, the dismantling of Iran's nuclear facilities, limits on Iran's missiles, and the reopening of the Strait of Hormuz.

Iran's 10-point plan included a no-attack guarantee, a permanent end to the war, the lifting of all U.S. sanctions, and the reopening of the Strait of Hormuz with a $2 million per ship fee.

Both countries have rejected each other's proposals to end the war.

Bitcoin trader moves $20 million to Binance

Crypto traders are known to trade or transfer digital assets ahead of such major events, and that is exactly what happened this time too.

A crypto whale moved 302.42 Bitcoin (BTC) worth more than $20 million to a Binance deposit address on Apr. 7, as per Arkham Intelligence .

The address continues to hold 200 Bitcoin worth $13.75 million.

When the trader bought around 513 BTC during January-March 2025, the purchase was made for around $50 million at an average cost of $97,541 a coin.

With Bitcoin trading slightly above $68,000 right now, the sale of transferred Bitcoin could translate into a multi-million loss.

However, it is unknown for what purpose the trader has moved over $20 million worth of Bitcoin and it could simply be a case of portfolio rebalancing.

Bitcoin is trading 45% lower than the all-time high (ATH) of $126,080 that it hit on Oct. 6 last year. At press time, it was exchanging hands at $68,297.27.
