Embraer ( NYSE:EMBJ ) shares moved 2.3% higher in Friday trading after the aircraft maker announced a fresh order from U.S.-based aircraft lessor Azorra for 15 additional E195-E2 jets. The deal pushes total bookings for Embraer's E2 program above 500 aircraft, adding another sign that demand for its next-generation regional jets could remain resilient.
The latest order marks the third expansion of Azorra's original 2021 agreement and includes purchase rights for another 15 aircraft. Azorra's firm orders now rise to 54 jets, up from 39 previously. Embraer also said more than 200 E2 aircraft are currently in service with 24 airline customers worldwide, highlighting broader adoption of the platform across global carriers.
J.P. Morgan analysts viewed the stronger lessor demand as a possible validation of the E2 program's traction among airlines. The Azorra order also supports Embraer's view that the Middle East conflict has not yet affected backlog growth, aircraft demand, or delivery execution. Embraer said the transaction will be included in its second-quarter results and backlog, though the company did not disclose the deal's value.
