Figma vs. Monday.com: Which Tech Stock Is the Better Buy in 2026?

As digital transformation accelerates, choosing between Figma(NYSE:FIG) and Monday.com(NASDAQ:MNDY) requires balancing high-octane design growth with a diversified work management platform to achieve consistent profitability for its shareholders.

Figma provides a collaborative design platform for product teams, while Monday.com offers a broader work operating system covering CRM and project management. Both companies serve the evolving needs of remote and hybrid teams. Still, their financial profiles and market valuations offer two distinct paths for investors looking for exposure to modern enterprise software.

The case for Figma

Figma is a design and product development platform that enables teams to collaborate on building digital products from initial concept through final code. It primarily generates revenue through a subscription model, offering various plans tailored to both individual creators and large enterprise organizations. To drive further growth, the company recently introduced AI credits across its plans. It expanded its administrative controls to capture more value from larger corporate seats that involve complex procurement processes.

Trailing revenue reached nearly $1.3 billion, representing a year-over-year increase of approximately 43% through the June 2026 quarter. Despite this strong growth, the company reported a net loss of close to $1.6 billion for the period. This significant net loss suggests that Figma is prioritizing aggressive market-share expansion and AI research over immediate bottom-line profitability as it scales its operations.

As of its June 2026 balance sheet, the debt-to-equity ratio is roughly 0.1x, indicating that total debt is a small fraction of shareholder equity. The current ratio, which measures a company's ability to cover its short-term financial obligations with its current assets, is approximately 2.5x.

While Figma generated roughly $176 million in free cash flow, note that stock-based compensation represented roughly 544% of operating cash flow, meaning this non-cash add-back heavily inflates cash generation.

The case for Monday.com

Monday.com provides a versatile work operating system that allows organizations to create custom workflows for project management, marketing, and sales operations. By moving beyond simple task lists to offer a full suite of tools within the broader tech stocks category, the platform serves approximately 250,000 customers worldwide. The company is currently focusing on deepening its artificial intelligence capabilities to automate routine business processes and improve efficiency for its global user base.

Trailing revenue reached nearly $1.4 billion, which was an increase of approximately 24% compared to the prior year. Monday.com reported net income of nearly $121 million, resulting in a net margin of roughly 9.6%.

The company carries a debt-to-equity ratio of approximately 0.4x. Its current ratio is nearly 1.5x, indicating a healthy level of liquidity to meet short-term financial commitments as they come due.

The company generated roughly $316 million in free cash flow, though note that stock-based compensation accounted for roughly 53.1% of operating cash flow, inflating reported cash generation since SBC is a non-cash expense added back in the cash flow statement.

Risk profile comparison

Figma faces significant competition from large incumbents and specialized AI start-ups that could undercut its pricing or bundle similar tools. The company must navigate the complexities of the EU AI Act and potential legal challenges regarding how its AI features generate content.

Monday.com operates in a crowded market for work management software, competing against several large-cap technology firms and nimble start-ups. Because the platform's utility depends on broad organizational adoption, any slowdown in corporate software spending could affect its growth trajectory.

Valuation comparison

Monday.com is currently the cheaper option, carrying a lower P/S ratio , which measures value against sales over the past twelve months, and a lower Forward P/E.

Which stock would I buy in 2026?

I would buy Figma. It's demonstrating outstanding revenue growth in a weak software environment. It is benefiting as customers are increasingly looking for AI tools integrated into software.

In the recent quarter, 80% of Figma's paid customers with more than $10,000 in annual recurring revenue were using AI credits every week. This resulted in the company's third consecutive quarter of accelerating revenue growth.

Meanwhile, Monday.com expects net dollar retention to be under pressure. Longer buying cycles are also a headwind that is pressuring revenue growth right now. The company has posted decelerating revenue growth over the last few years, which stands in sharp contrast to Figma's recent acceleration.

For these reasons, I would buy Figma stock in 2026.
