Investing.com-- Japan Tobacco (JT) (TYO:2914) raised its full-year earnings forecasts on Thursday after third-quarter adjusted operating profit increased 13%, supported by tobacco pricing gains, growth in heated tobacco products and a weaker yen.
Adjusted operating profit rose to 310.7 billion yen ($2.0 billion) in the three months ended September. Revenue increased 6.1% to 1.005 trillion yen, and net profit rose 6.0% to 187.1 billion yen, the company said.
Revenue benefited from higher prices and product mix, which offset declining cigarette volumes. Sales volume of reduced-risk products, including heated tobacco, rose 26.6%, supported by demand for its Ploom brand.
JT raised its 2026 revenue forecast to 3.903 trillion yen from 3.885 trillion yen and its adjusted operating profit outlook to 1.079 trillion yen from 1.035 trillion yen. Operating profit is now expected to rise 20.1% year-on-year to 1.041 trillion yen, while net profit is forecast to increase 32.6% to 662 billion yen.
The company maintained its planned annual dividend at 272 yen per share, up from 234 yen in 2025. Chief Executive Takehiko Tsutsui said JT expected full-year results to significantly exceed last year's record high.
