Public Service Enterprise: 3 Key Takeaways for Long-Term Investors

Trade PEG on Coinbase

On its third quarter of 2026 earnings call, held on Nov. 2, 2026, Public Service Enterprise(NYSE:PEG) announced full-year profit guidance and reaffirmed long-term targets driven by power grid upgrades. The company offers predictable earnings by expanding its regulated electric and gas network while securing forward power sales for its nuclear fleet. Three things management said stand out.

1. Multiyear Growth Targets Remain Intact Through 2030

Regulated capital investments in energy efficiency and power distribution drive rate base growth, which is the baseline asset value used to calculate allowed customer rates. Management confirmed it doesn't need to sell new stock or dilute existing shareholders to fund these plans.

We are reaffirming both our full year 2026 non GAAP operating earnings guidance and PSEG's 5-year growth outlook of 6% to 8% through 2030.
-- Ralph LaRossa, Chair, President, and Chief Executive Officer

2. Forward Power Hedges Protect Nuclear Revenue From Regional Spreads

Power generation pricing varies across regional power market delivery hubs. Selling nuclear output forward at local delivery points shields revenue from pricing gaps between adjacent transmission zones.

As we have stated in the past, our realized energy price for our 5-unit nuclear fleet is historically aligned with the PECO Zone, and has traded at about a 20% discount to the more liquid PJM Western hub.
-- Daniel J. Cregg, Executive Vice President and Chief Financial Officer

3. State Proposal Targets Regulatory Lag on Utility Investments

Public Service Enterprise faces regulatory lag, which is the delay between spending capital on grid improvements and recovering those costs through customer rate adjustments. Management plans to file a targeted proposal with state regulators to shorten this recovery timeline on recent upgrades.

We anticipate filing a proposal with the New Jersey BPU to address the regulatory lag of capital investments made since our last distribution rate case.
-- Ralph LaRossa, Chair, President, and Chief Executive Officer

Looking Ahead

Execution continues smoothly across regulated transmission lines and nuclear operations, providing steady cash flows for capital spending. System modernization and grid reliability remain key value drivers, while management watches pricing discipline and regional power auction delays.

Looking ahead, our solid balance sheet supports the execution of PSEG's predominantly regulated 5-year capital spending plan, without the need to issue new equity or sell assets and provides the opportunity for consistent and sustainable dividend growth.
-- Daniel J. Cregg, Executive Vice President and Chief Financial Officer

Constructive regulatory filings and potential long-term nuclear supply contracts with large power users create incremental upside beyond baseline projections.

In summary, our teams continue to execute our business plan. We are delivering solid results and customer value, we are making steady progress on the regulatory front.
-- Ralph LaRossa, Chair, President, and Chief Executive Officer
