Reddit (RDDT) Stock Sinks As Q3 Results Clash With User Outlook

Trade Reddit on Coinbase

Reddit just watched its stock crater almost 30% in a single session, even though Q3 2026 delivered one of its strongest reports yet. Revenue hit US$894.96 million and net income reached US$283.26 million, both solid figures for a social platform still early in its public life.

Coming into the release, the share price had already slipped over the past quarter. Today the move turned into a full sentiment reset. The question hanging over the tape is whether this selloff reflects a genuine reassessment of future risk or a market crowd reacting first and reading the earnings later.

Reddit's Bull Story Meets Hard User Metrics

Optimistic Reddit forecasts lean heavily on international traction and deeper engagement turning the platform into a global growth engine.

"Strong international expansion, AI-driven search, and deep community engagement position Reddit for outsized growth in users, advertising revenue, and strategic market share globally."

Q3 shows part of that picture coming through. International advertising revenue grew faster than the US and ARPU rose 36% to US$6.87, which points to healthier monetization per user. Reddit also added roughly 1b new posts and comments, expanding the content base. At the same time, DAUs grew 12% to 130.3m and management now guides to a low double digit DAU decline in Q4, which directly challenges the idea of uninterrupted user expansion.

Reddit Bear Case: Traffic Strain Trumps Strong Ads

Bearish views argue that user pressure and weaker search referrals could blunt Reddit's edge even if ads keep working.

"As Reddit reduces its reliance on search driven traffic and pushes more usage into the app, the combination of choppy Google referrals and a recent sequential decline in U.S. DAUs suggests that the shift toward direct usage may not fully offset lost SEO exposure, which could limit impression growth and in turn constrain revenue and earnings momentum."

Q3 results give that concern real teeth. DAUs landed at 130.3m and management now guides to a low double digit DAU decline in Q4. Search referrals from Google are already dropping meaningfully. Advertising and ARPU are strong, yet the user outlook has clearly missed the continuity implied in the bull story.

Spot Earnings Disconnects And Hunt

Reddit just showed how a strong quarter can still bring a sharp hit to sentiment. The real opportunity could be in finding stocks where fundamentals and current pricing have quietly drifted apart before the wider market reacts.
