ContextLogic Buys US Salt In $907.5 Million Deal

ContextLogic ( LOGC ) is taking a big swing in its turnaround effort, announcing a deal to buy US Salt Parent Holdings and its subsidiaries in a transaction that values the company at $907.5 million. US Salt was carved out of Kissner in 2021 by Emerald Lake, which is now exiting the business. As part of the deal, funds advised by Abrams Capital will roll over most of their equity into the combined company, making them the largest shareholder in ContextLogic.

For ContextLogic, the move marks a dramatic shift from its turbulent past few years. After going public in 2020 at a $14 billion valuation, the company saw its value collapse and eventually sold off its e-commerce operations in 2024 for about $170 million. Buying US Salt gives the company a more stable, traditional operating business as it tries to reset its identity. Investors will now watch how the new ownership structure shapes the next phase.
