The excitement of investing in a company that can reverse its fortunes is a big draw for some speculators, so even companies that have no revenue, no profit, and a record of falling short, can manage to find investors. Sometimes these stories can cloud the minds of investors, leading them to invest with their emotions rather than on the merit of good company fundamentals. A loss-making company is yet to prove itself with profit, and eventually the inflow of external capital may dry up.
Despite being in the age of tech-stock blue-sky investing, many investors still adopt a more traditional strategy; buying shares in profitable companies like Journeo( LON:JNEO ). Now this is not to say that the company presents the best investment opportunity around, but profitability is a key component to success in business.

How Fast Is Journeo Growing Its Earnings Per Share?
In the last three years Journeo's earnings per share took off; so much so that it's a bit disingenuous to use these figures to try and deduce long term estimates. Thus, it makes sense to focus on more recent growth rates, instead. Journeo's EPS shot up from UK£0.18 to UK£0.25; a result that's bound to keep shareholders happy. That's a impressive gain of 41%.
One way to double-check a company's growth is to look at how its revenue, and earnings before interest and tax (EBIT) margins are changing. While we note Journeo achieved similar EBIT margins to last year, revenue grew by a solid 46% to UK£50m. That's a real positive.

Are Journeo Insiders Aligned With All Shareholders?

That's because insider buying often indicates that those closest to the company have confidence that the share price will perform well. Of course, we can never be sure what insiders are thinking, we can only judge their actions.
Not only did Journeo insiders refrain from selling stock during the year, but they also spent UK£77k buying it. This is a good look for the company as it paints an optimistic picture for the future.
