Technip Energies has secured a major EPCIC contract for the Coral Norte FLNG project offshore Mozambique, reinforcing the country's emergence as a major African LNG producer.
Technip Energies, working with JGC and Samsung Heavy Industries, has been awarded an engineering, procurement, construction, installation, and commissioning contract by Mozambique Rovuma Venture for the Coral Norte floating LNG project. The award, including earlier related contracts, is valued at more than €1 billion in revenue for Technip Energies.
Coral Norte is designed to produce around 3.6 million tonnes per year of LNG, effectively doubling the Coral hub's capacity to 7 million tonnes per year. The project is being developed offshore Mozambique by Eni and its partners CNPC, ENH, XRG and KOGAS.
The project builds on Coral Sul, Mozambique's first FLNG development in the Area 4 offshore gas block. Coral Norte will use an enhanced replica design, allowing developers to apply lessons from Coral Sul while reducing execution risk and improving delivery certainty.
The award strengthens Technip Energies' position in floating LNG, a segment gaining momentum as producers seek faster and more flexible routes to bring offshore gas resources to market. For Mozambique, the expansion would further raise the country's profile in global LNG supply and place it among Africa's top LNG producers.
The development also comes as buyers continue to look for diversified LNG supply sources amid long-term concerns over energy security and regional supply concentration.
