Dell Technologies ( NYSE:DELL ) faces a tougher test of its artificial-intelligence server dominance as GF Securities warns that Super Micro Computer and Quanta could capture business from two of Dell's most important customers. The brokerage cut its price target to $403 from $445, arguing that competitive pressure could limit upside even if Dell raises its full-year guidance next month.

Dell sells personal computers, enterprise storage systems, networking equipment and servers. Its Infrastructure Solutions Group has become increasingly important as cloud providers and AI companies spend heavily on Nvidia-powered systems, giving Dell exposure to the data-center buildout but also increasing its dependence on a small number of large contracts.

GF Securities analyst Evan Lee maintained a Hold rating and said Dell's position as a major supplier to SpaceX and sole supplier to CoreWeave ( NASDAQ:CRWV ) may weaken as Nvidia's ( NASDAQ:NVDA ) Rubin platform reaches the market.

Per our downgrade report on June 25, we think Dell's leading positioning (major supplier for SpaceX ( NASDAQ:SPCX ) and sole for CoreWeave will face competitive pressures starting with Rubin platform, Lee wrote.

Super Micro's backlog has reportedly climbed to $60 billion, strengthening its ability to win a larger portion of SpaceX's future infrastructure projects. Meanwhile, Lee expects Quanta to become a second supplier of VR200 systems to CoreWeave, potentially capturing 20% to 30% of that business in 2027.

GF Securities still expects Dell to ship 15,000 NVL72 racks in both fiscal 2027 and fiscal 2028, suggesting near-term demand remains healthy. However, Lee cautioned that the stock's roughly 20-times fiscal 2028 earnings valuation already reflects much of the expected strength.

Investor Takeaway On Dell Stock

Dell's Sept. 3 earnings report is now a key test of whether strong AI-server demand can offset emerging share losses. Investors should watch AI server backlog, margins, order concentration and management's fiscal-year guidance.

A stronger outlook, rising rack shipments or evidence that Dell is retaining SpaceX and CoreWeave volumes could support the stock. Conversely, lower market share, pricing pressure or weaker margins would reinforce concerns that Dell's AI growth is becoming more competitive just as its valuation leaves less room for disappointment.
