Douglas Elliman's Kelly Bensimon joins NYSE Floor Talk
I'm Kelly Killoren Ben Simon. I am a real estate broker at Douglas Element in New York, Florida and California. I'm a mom. I'm a dog mom. I'm an author and I am on the new show The Golden Life on.
Kelly, what brings you to today's event?
Today, I was so excited to meet Michael because he's been doing so many things. This is an amazing amalgamation of the best of the best. The the most amazing minds who are celebrating and collaborating. What is better than that? especially in the Hamptons during the summer.
What networking opportunity does this provide you today?
What I think is so great about this event that Michael has held is that it's a very casual environment. And so people are like, hey, where are you from? I just met a man from Iceland. I just met a beautiful model who has a skincare line. You know, I just reconnected with one of my friends who makes the most, makes, makes and creates the most beautiful diamond jewelry. So it's just like all these different people together under this amazing tent, learning from each other.
What do you want to take away from today's event?
For me, the takeaway is that I was a model, I was an editor, I was an author, I was on television. I have my MBA. And for me, I want those stars, athletes, models, reality stars to have similar opportunities to what I've had. And I have always aligned with people who have opened doors for me and just said, you've got to walk through that door. The opportunity of not being able to do something never crossed my mind. Maybe it's because I'm a mother bear, mama bear who raised her two children on her own. So scarcity and the fear really like ignited me and I just don't want anyone that's in this business to not feel that they don't have opportunity because there's so much out there.
So fame to fortune, why do you think this event right now is so important and so topical for everyone to have?
I think fame to fortune is a really, really hot button issue right now because there are so many people, whether you're selling a t-shirt line on Instagram, whether you're on a show, whether you're an athlete, there's just a lot of different people who are generating a lot of eyeballs. And how do you translate that? How do you translate those eyeballs, those impressions to actual real dollars? And here with Michael and his amazing group of friends, you can really, really learn and hone in on the things that make you happy. And what my father always said is that do what you love and the money will come.
