Kingfisher Mining MD discusses progress as Copper Blow eyes maiden resource by year-end

Kingfisher Mining Ltd (ASX:KFM) managing director Chris Bittar spoke with Proactive's Stephen Gunnion about the company's strategy to transition from an exploration story towards a near-term development story, led by its high-grade Copper Blow copper-gold project around 20 kilometres south of Broken Hill.

Bittar said recent drilling at Copper Blow has confirmed high-grade copper-gold mineralisation and validated the company's geological model, building on historical drilling across the project. Mineralisation has now been defined over around 600 metres and remains open at depth and along strike, offering scope to grow tonnes towards a future resource. "The next round of drilling is probably just purely going to focus on the size of the system," Bittar said, with Kingfisher aiming to finalise a maiden Mineral Resource by year-end.

He also highlighted wider exploration potential, with another three to four kilometres of trend essentially untested using modern drilling techniques, to be investigated once the main Copper Blow mineralisation advances towards a resource.

A key part of the development pathway is Kingfisher's mining and processing agreement with Broken Hill Mines, giving access to the 750,000-tonne-a-year Rasp processing plant - an option Bittar said offers a lower-capital, shorter-timeframe route compared with a standalone project.

Kingfisher is aiming to have a drill rig on site in October, with metallurgical test work under way on the oxide and transitional ore. Work continues at Wellington and Cobar, though Copper Blow remains the company's main focus for the rest of the year.

00:00 Chris Bitarr

This just gives us the potential for um a low CAPEX accelerated pathway to production.

00:10 David

Hello, you're watching Proactive. I'm joined by Chris Bitarr. He's Managing Director of King Fisher Mining. Chris, very good to speak with you. For investors new to King Fisher, what's the company's strategy and where do you see the biggest opportunity today?

00:24 Chris Bitarr

Hi David. Um yeah, look, thanks for your time. Um, look, the strategy for King Fisher, it's uh a pretty simple one.

00:30 Chris Bitarr

Just really looking to transition from that exploration play into um near-term development production. um just through the just focusing on high quality uh assets with high grade located near existing infrastructure where we can just see a clear sort of pathway from exploration through to development. Um and for us the real the biggest opportunity at the moment for us is is copper blow, which is our immediate focus given the scale and grade that we're seeing out there.

01:03 Chris Bitarr

And whilst and in the back and in um conjunction with this, uh we got a broader New South Wales portfolio which has given us gives us exposure to copper, lead, gold, um zinc and silver, which we think's a sort of a very good basket of commodities to have given the current sort of economic climate and just given the recent run that the copper and particularly the zinc prices have been on. Um we're pretty happy with where we sit with in terms of those commodities.

01:22 David

And that Copper Blow has now demonstrated high grade copper gold mineralization over 600 meters. What's the latest results telling you about the scale of the system, Chris?

01:34 Chris Bitarr

Oh, look, the recent results, um, have just given us the confidence that um copper blow is a substantial system and not sort of, um, an isolated occurrence. Um, historical drilling out there has um, highlighted um, some high-grade mineralization over sort of 600 meter strike length and our drilling has gone in there. We've we've validated that grade. We've validated the sort of help develop and validate the existing model. Um, but with the broad copper gold zones that we're seeing, there's some internal high grade zones in there.

02:10 Chris Bitarr

Uh, like our previous, one of the best holes we hit from our drilling was 26 meters at 2. um 57% copper with 0.75 gram per ton gold. Um and and sitting within that was a high-grade zone of um 4 meters at 7% copper, which and that had 2.38 grams per ton gold. So there's definitely potential for some good metal in there. um and then just most importantly for us that uh mineralization still remains open at depth there at Copper Blow.

02:28 David

the north and south zones have different styles of mineralization, both remain open down plunge. What are you looking to prove with the next round of drilling Chris?

02:37 Chris Bitarr

Oh, look, the next round of drillings, um, like I said just previously, look, we we're confident in the model now. So the next round of drilling is it's just really um focusing on extending uh the known mineralization, just confirming and testing continuity down dip, down plunge. Um we just want to see how far these systems go um and just get a better right better understanding of the geometry and also just the relationship between the broader mineralization and and those high-grade zones that sit within that.

03:22 David

there's still around 3 kilometers of the wider magnetic trend that hasn't been effectively tested. How how much exploration upside do you see beyond the current drilling footprint?

03:36 Chris Bitarr

Oh look, this is really the the blue sky story for for King Fisher. Um so look, copper blow, the the 600 meter mineralized zone sits within a 4K magnetic trend. and essentially 3 kilometers of that magnetic trend remains untested sort of using modern drilling techniques. So we've engaged some geophysical consultants to help identify areas of interest with us um out there at Copper blow. Um so there's definitely a lot of potential to essentially try and find a repeat structure within um within that magnetic anomaly. So, uh, you know, the exploration drilling sort of further down the track that that really could be um a big step change for for King Fisher if we're able to sort of um identify other mineralized zones on that trend.

04:30 David

Uh Chris the uh Chris the agreement with Broken Hill mines gives Kingfisher access to the 750,000 ton a year Roth processing plant. How does that change the potential development pathway for copper blow?

04:47 Chris Bitarr

Oh look, this is a very important part of the story and a real key um value driver for the Broken Hill projects. So this agreement, rather than having to build standalone processing plants and facilities and um associated infrastructure, we essentially get immediate access to the Raffs mine in Broken Hill, um access to their workforce and their existing infrastructure. This just gives us the potential for um a low CAPEX accelerated pathway to production. You know, building standalone projects, not only they're very costly, but they're also very very time-consuming. So this just gives us the ability to just focus on establishing feed um for the mill, which we're looking at at Copper Blow and Alandale and Steven's Trig. Uh and then we've also got 400 square kilometers of other of area in the Broken Hill region, which we can which we think's um highly potential to to host other high-grade mineral deposits.

05:44 David

you're you're targeting a made and mineral resource at Copperblow in December. What needs to come together between now and then to deliver that milestone?

05:53 Chris Bitarr

Oh look, it's uh pretty standard stuff for us. Look, we'll just do some drilling, geophysi- uh sorry, geological modeling. Um once we've got the assay results back, they'll all be combined um into the model. Uh and then in the background which we've already commenced, uh we've got some metallurgical test work underway, just looking at our options for the oxide transitional zones. Um historically there's been some um test work done on the sulfide zone. We're pretty confident we're just sort of dealing with the run of the mill Chaco pyrote there. But like further down the track we'll we'll do um further metal met testing just to validate all this, but it's really just combining the geology, the mineralized zones into the model, just doing the necessary technical work which will which will sort of be the foundation for the maiden jork resource which we're hoping to get out as soon as all this technical work's completed.

06:58 David

Beyond Copperblow, you have Wellington and Cobar. How do you balance uh advancing those projects while keeping Copperblow as the main focus?

07:11 Chris Bitarr

Well, look it's probably pretty clear from the interview today that um Copper Blow is our our main focus and the near-term value driver for us. Um but at the same time, we're also um develop uh progressing our our other projects such as Wellington and Cobar and the broader Broken Hill region. Um, look, we're we're just going through um historical data sets, just uh geophysical, geochemical um and geological models. Uh we're looking to get an airborne geophysical survey done over Wellington. Um and then like I said, the desktop studies of Cobar and the greater Broken Hill region just sort of we'll work through those to um sort of define uh future drill targets, but at the same time we won't be taking too much of the focus away from Copper Blow.

08:24 David

Chris, I hope you'll continue to keep us updated with your progress. Thank you very much for your time today.

08:32 Chris Bitarr

Thanks, David. Look forward to um giving you an update when we get some um SA results in in the coming months.

08:41 David

Look forward to that King Fisher Mining Managing Director Chris Batarr.
