With Labor Day upon us, I've rounded up the best deals I've found on our favorite tried-and-true mattresses , plus a few more good discounts.

The Saatva Classic is our pick for the best mattress overall . It's an innerspring mattress that comes in three firmness levels, and it's both supportive and comfortable — it works for just about anyone. The mattress is also very well made, so I think it's worth the full price. But a sale price is always better, and right now it's $400 off for Labor Day. Parachute's innerspring mattress rarely goes on sale, so it's always worth a mention. It's made with just springs, wool, and organic cotton and has a fairly firm feel. All purchases at Parachute over $600 are discounted 20 percent, bringing the Eco mattress to just over $2,000 for a queen.

The Bear Elite Hybrid is our favorite hybrid mattress because it comes in three different firmness levels, works well for multiple sleeping positions, and has a soft-but-supportive feel, according to senior editor Hilary Reid. Our favorite less expensive hybrid, the Leesa Original Hybrid, is currently 30 percent off at Leesa and West Elm. Writer Ambar Pardilla says the Leesa Original Hybrid has a firm-but-cushioning feel with good edge support and a comfortable level of bounciness.

Leesa Legend Chill Hybrid Mattress - Queen
We're also big fans of the cooling Leesa Legend Chill Hybrid mattress — so much so that I named it the best cooling mattress overall. The cooling cover and gel infusions in the foam, plus a breathable hybrid structure, allowed writer Bella Druckman to sleep comfortably during a summer without air-conditioning. It is on sale at both Leesa and West Elm.

Purple RestorePremier Hybrid Mattress - Queen
Here's another solid cooling option from Purple. It's a more luxurious mattress, featuring the brand's signature GelFlex grid, foam, and pocketed coils. Senior editor Crystal Martin says the gel grid in the mattress provides a slight suspension that makes her feel like she's floating and keeps her cool. For Labor Day, Purple is offering discounts up to $1,599 off mattresses and up to $1,199 off mattress and adjustable-base bundles.

Nolah Evolution 15-Inch Mattress - Queen

Writer Tembe Denton-Hurst says it has a bouncy feel that keeps her from sinking in too much. It also stays cool, even when sharing the bed, Denton-Hurst says. Birch Natural Mattress - Queen
Birch makes our favorite latex hybrid, which has a high-quality construction and a solidly medium-firm feel, according to senior writer Liza Corsillo. For Labor Day, it's 20 percent off at both Birch and West Elm.

Avocado Green Extra Firm Mattress - Queen
If you prefer an extra-firm feel, consider the Avocado Green Extra Firm. According to senior editor Simone Kitchens — our resident firm-mattress connoisseur — this one is easily the firmest she's ever tried. While it offers spine-straightening support, Kitchens says the organic-cotton cover still makes it cozy. It's 15 percent off for Labor Day.

Avocado Eco Organic Mattress - Queen
Also on sale is our favorite less expensive latex hybrid, the Avocado Eco Organic. Writer Kitty Guo says it has a medium feel and good support for people with lighter builds. That, combined with a budget-friendly price, could make it a nice option for older kids or teens, too.

Saatva Zenhaven Latex Mattress - Queen
If you like a mattress made completely of latex foam, consider the Saatva Zenhaven. Kitchens describes it as "truly a big flat slab of firm latex that provides incredible support while still feeling kind to my joints and good for side sleeping." Like the Saatva Classic, it is discounted for Labor Day as part of the brand's sitewide deal: $400 off purchases of $1,000 or more.

Best foam mattresses on sale for Labor Day
Leesa Original Mattress - Queen
Our favorite foam mattress, the Leesa Original, is 30 percent off at Leesa and West Elm. Senior writer Michael Zhao tested the Leesa Original and says it's the springiest foam mattress he's ever slept on, with none of the sinking he associates with pure memory foam. It also has a pleasantly medium-firm feel that works for lots of people.

Casper The One - Queen
Our favorite less expensive foam mattress, the Casper One, is also on sale. Strategist contributor Kiki Aranita says the Casper One is firm enough to be supportive but soft enough to relieve pressure on her joints.

Plank Firm Mattress - Queen
For a firmer all-foam mattress, you can't do much better than the Plank. This dual-sided, flippable mattress has a firm side and an extra-firm side. Kitchens says it feels truly firm without being too rigid and offers excellent back support. It's currently 30 percent off with code LABORDAY30.

The Purple Mattress - Queen
The Purple mattress is a good option if you're looking for a foam mattress that stays cooler than most. I slept on the Purple mattress for a few months last year, and I was very impressed. The GelFlex grid offers a comfortable, flexible feel, along with maximizing airflow. With Purple's Labor Day discounts, it's currently 20 percent off.

Tuft & Needle Mint Mattress - Queen
We like Tuft & Needle's Mint mattress as a cooling foam option too, and right now it's 25 percent off, along with the rest of Tuft & Needle's mattresses . (It's also on sale at Pottery Barn, but the queen size is not available, so the Pottery Barn price listed below is for a full size.) The Mint has a more traditional foam-mattress feel than the Purple, and its medium firmness works well for multiple sleep positions. When writer Arielle Avila tested it, she liked the Mint's supportive but not-too-firm feel and noted that she rarely overheated while sleeping on it.

Tuft & Needle T&N Original Mattress - Queen
We're also fans of Tuft & Needle's Original mattress, which is already a good deal at under $1,000 for a queen-size mattress . Senior writer Lauren Ro tested the Original and liked its balance of softness and responsiveness, as well as its just-softer-than-medium firmness. After testing it, she put the Original in her guest bedroom, and many of her guests have remarked on how comfortable it is. Zinus Green Tea Memory Foam Mattress - Queen
I've been sleeping on this Amazon Zinus mattress for the past couple of months, and for the price, it's surprisingly decent. You can get it even cheaper than usual right now— it's on sale for under $250.
