Dollar General breaks out back-to-school deals

Dollar General is offering more than 70 back-to-school items priced at $1 or less, the company announced on Tuesday.

"The back-to-school season can put pressure on household and classroom budgets, especially when everything is needed at once," said Steve O'Brien, vice president, division merchandise manager. "Our focus is on offering the essentials customers rely on at affordable prices, including a wide assortment of items at $1 or less, while also making shopping as easy as possible through quick in-store trips and … same-day delivery."

Now through Sept. 7, DG is offering 30% off stationary category products for verified teachers. The retailer's "Teacher Social Media Sweepstakes" will award 20 educators with a $250 Dollar General gift card. The sweepstakes runs July 15 through Aug. 15 on DG's Instagram, with winners announced Aug. 22.

All of the items in DG's back-to-school section are offered at last year's low price, including products from national brands like Crayola, Elmer's, Sharpie, Expo and BIC, and private brand items by iMagine, OfficeHub and Crafter's Closet.

Over 70 back-to-school and stationary items are priced at $1 or less, including essentials like folders, pencils and composition books, and there is a selection of backpacks at $5 each.

Season-long+ savings on items including .50 Crayola 24 ct. crayons, $1 Crayola 12 count coloring pencils, $1.50 Crayola 10 count markers, .50 iMagine school glue and 3 for $1 iMagine crayons.

Shoppers can also buy snacks with "Build the Lunchbox" deals including:

• Fruit snacks including Gushers, Fruit by the Foot and Fruit Roll-Ups 2 for $5 and Betty Crocker Fruit Snacks, Buy 2 Get 1 Free

• Peanut butter and jelly ingredients from Welch's and Peter Pan 2 for $5

• Cheez-It 3 for $6 and Lance Crackers 4 for $5

Through Dollar General's partnership with TeacherLists, customers can search by zip code to find local school supply lists and shop more efficiently at DG, and can unlock extra savings by signing up for a myDG account, which provides access to DG Digital Coupons.

DG also offers a $5 off $25 promotion each Saturday, along with additional savings opportunities throughout July.
