Here's how Amazon Prime members can save 20 cents at the gas pump

Amazon is running a weekly Friday deal giving Prime members 20 cents off a gallon of gas at gas stations, as the war in Iran pushes  fuel prices higher across the nation. 

Until May 29, the company is giving Prime members  a discount at BP, Amoco and AMPM gas stations. The promotion is part of a partnership between Amazon and BP's Earnify loyalty program. Amoco and AMPM are owned by the British oil giant.

Amazon Prime members can use the discount at participating gas stations by linking their Amazon account to the Earnify app. They can then use the app or enter their phone number at the pump to receive the discount. The deal is available at 7,500 participating gas stations.

Prime membership costs $139 per year or $14.99 per month .

The company is also running an everyday deal where Prime members can save 10 cents per gallon by using the Earnify app. That deal is available at BP, Amoco, AMPM and Thorntons gas pumps.

Over the past month, the average price of a gallon of regular gasoline in Texas has increased by a dollar, according to AAA data, to $3.82 from $2.82 a month ago. 

Some Houstonians said they've cut back on fuel use because of the surge in prices, while others have begun setting more money aside to refill their tanks. As of Saturday morning, gas prices in Houston ranged from $3.19 to $4.49 a gallon, according to Gas Buddy.
