Canidae Heartland 's newest launch of dog food delights will have your pup barking to a different tune—and no, it's not just because of the farm-fresh ingredients.

In celebration of National Dog Day, the dog food brand teamed up with country star Walker Hayes to help debut his new single that's inspired by the bond between a human and their dog: "Love is a Four-Legged Word."

What began as a tune sung with his daughter about their dog, Skeeter, led to an iconic partnership between the Grammy-nominated star and Canidae Heartland , with an accompanying launch of the brand's fresh dog food varieties at Walmart.

"[Canidae] did find a song that I was working on about my dog. It didn't really have a name at the time; I called it 'Love is a Four-Legged Word,'" Hayes told 10BEST at the Canidae Heartland event at Old Smokey in Nashville, TN. "I think all dog-lovers love the statement, 'He's my dog, and I'm their human.' Canidae [in particular] loved this song, and now it's the Dog Day anthem."

Hayes spoke about the huge impact his dogs have had on his family.

"I got the dogs for the kids, but they're really my best friend. Watching my kids take care of the pets and love the pets, there's nothing better," Hayes said.

In addition to feeding his pets Canidae Heartland pet food , the singer said the best way he keeps his animals happy and healthy is by showing them love. "The dogs get touched more than I do," he jokingly said.

If there's anything he thinks we could learn from pets, it's to live life with an open heart and to love others unconditionally. "If we could look at each other with the forgiveness and forgetfulness as dogs do, the world would be a different place."
