Costco Is Opening 7 New Stores This Month—See If One Is Near You
The warehouses are located across six states.
Costco is opening seven new warehouse stores this month, with another one slated for later in the fall. It's all part of the company's continued expansion across the U.S.
Last week, new locations in Albany, N.Y. , and Oconomowoc, Wis. , opened their doors. Later this month, warehouses in Otsego, Minn. (Aug. 14); Stone Mountain, Ga. (Aug. 27); and Lee's Summit, Mo. (Aug. 28, according to local news reports ), plus two in Texas— Mansfield (Aug. 25) and Celina (Aug. 26)—will be open just in time to grab some supplies for any Labor Day parties. A future warehouse is coming to Camarillo, Calif. in October.
The openings come as the retailer plans dozens more locations in 2026, having already added stores in California, Florida, Utah, and Texas this year. So far, Costco has more than 650 stores in the U.S. and Puerto Rico. During an earnings call , the company said it plans to open a total of 26 warehouses in 2026, with roughly 30 new locations planned annually in the coming years.
Earlier this year, the retail giant also announced that it's updating its checkout process in order to get shoppers through lines in less time. Rather than unloading your cart onto a conveyor belt, as you wait in line, an employee scans the items in your cart. Once you reach the cashier, you scan your member card, and the items in your cart automatically pop up on the checkout screen, and you pay for your purchases.
