At the beginning of August, Spyderco collaborated with Blade HQ on a special edition of its Tenacious EDC knife. At just $75, it was quite the steal and an immediate hit.
Now, hot on that launch's heels, the two brands are back with the same Spyderco Tenacious Tanto silhouette, this time with a new blade finish .

Always bet on black
For the most part, this reissue remains true to the first edition. That starts with an aggressive, strong tanto blade shape, crafted from 8Cr13MoV, which helps keep this knife as affordable as it is.
But there's one big change: this new edition gets a black oxide blade finish. While that clearly has a stylistic benefit, turning the silver steel black, it also improves its corrosion resistance, granting it greater longevity and reducing its need for maintenance.

That finish also extends to the handle. The steel liners, the liner lock, the four-position reversible pocket clip and the rest of the hardware are all similarly blacked out.
But the scales remain unchanged. Just like the previous edition, this knife gets natural G-10 handle scales, which look like translucent jade.
Pricing and availability
The Spyderco Tenacious Tanto Black Oxide is now available on the brand's site for just $80, which is $5 more than the previous edition, which can be explained by the new blade and hardware finish.
