Flowers for Valentine's Day? Sure, there are certainly more creative Valentine's Day gifts out there, but I'm a firm believer that you can't go wrong with a classic — if it works, it works! Here's the tricky part: Not all online flower delivery services are created equal, so I rounded up a group of Yahoo editors to put the biggest brands to the test. The bouquets below made our hearts flutter ( usually in a good way).

Since time isn't exactly on your side right now, act fast if you want one of these bouquets to land on your loved one's doorstep before or on Valentine's Day. And if you're really here at the eleventh hour, some of these services offer same-day or next-day shipping. Just keep in mind that they may only ship to certain ZIP codes on the actual day (with an extra fee, no less).
A quick caveat: More often than not, you'll receive an arrangement that looks a bit different than the one you ordered online. All online flower delivery services prioritize freshness and quality over color and flower selection, and 1-800-Flowers, FTD, ProFlowers and Teleflora use local florists to fulfill orders. That means flower variety and quality may depend on the shop that ultimately assembles your arrangement. While all of these services say they try their best to match colors and flower varieties, keep reading — you'll see that doesn't always happen.
Best Valentine's Day flower delivery services of 2026

This is one of the most basic bouquets of the bunch, but sometimes simple is best. Each and every flower was at peak freshness upon arrival, and Health Optimization Editor Taylyn Washington-Harmon says they probably would have stayed that way for up to two weeks if she didn't live in a ground-level apartment with limited natural light.
FTD uses local florists for its arrangements, so the selection may vary from one location to the next. Even so, Washington-Harmon's bouquet looked nearly identical to the one online — the red roses took the spotlight, but light pink carnations and alstroemeria added a touch of whimsy. "The flowers were gorgeous," she raved, adding that it "felt like a true luxury gift." The best part? The price tag is anything but luxury as it is, but you can score an extra 20% off sitewide with code YAHOO.

Adding a Valentine's Day bouquet to your Amazon cart? Say less. Shipping is free with Prime, so it's no wonder Evergreen Commerce Director Lauren Matthews-Ide says that these blooms are worth every buck. "Compared with similarly full, fresh arrangements from competitors, it still feels like good value for the money," she says.
Alright, let's talk flowers. When they arrived at Matthews-Ide's doorstep, they were "in great shape, with zero smushed blooms." The roses and alstroemeria really came to life on the third day, and she only noticed minor edge wilting on a few petals. "Personally, I prefer a bit more variety in a bouquet, especially if I were sending it to a romantic partner. That said, I can easily imagine sending this arrangement to my mom and her loving it," she adds.

I've never known a rose that lasts more than a week, but clearly I'm looking in all the wrong places. Commerce Editor Janelle Randazza raved that the petals on her bouquet didn't start to wilt until closer to the 10-day mark. In fact, her neighbor picked up another rose arrangement that arrived on her doorstep while she was away, and "she kept them watered for 10 days with no drooping."
Quality's one thing, but wow factor is another. Randazza received the smallest size, so it had considerably fewer flowers than some of the other bouquets on this list. That said, she gushed that it was "fresh, full and fragrant" — but I imagine she'd be even more impressed if she got double or triple the stems.

Although it's one of the pricier options on this list, this bouquet's presentation alone makes it worth every penny. It arrived wrapped in the brand's signature burlap with a pink bow — no excessive packaging or wasteful plastic. The flowers were top-tier — no brown edges or roughed-up leaves, just 30-plus eye-catching stems. I was impressed with the blooms upon first glance, but their beauty took on a whole new meaning after I trimmed the stems and stuck them in water.
Farmgirl promises to "always ship the highest quality stems" even if they don't match the ones in the photos, and I can say, without question, that the seasonal arrangement I received was just as beautiful as the one pictured online. Is spending $125 on flowers a hard sell? Without question, but at least these beauties were built to last. It took 10 days before I noticed any wilting or drooping, but I didn't toss 'em until day 14.

1-800-Flowers taps local florists to assemble orders, so no two bouquets are the same. The bouquet Senior Writer Katie Teague received (hand-delivered to her house, no less) was stunning but looked slightly different than the pictures online. The lavender in her bouquet was swapped out, and while she still loved the final result, "It didn't give the additional pop of purple that you see online," she says. The biggest downside? "The flowers didn't really give off any floral scent."
When it comes to staying power, Teague notes that, nearly two weeks after delivery, only the roses had started wilting. Perhaps this is a reason why 1-800-Flowers has been in the game for so long, along with the fact that the service is reliable, fast (same-day shipping is available in most locations) and seamless. Just keep in mind that bouquet selection is dependent on local flower availability. (I tried to ship this bouquet to my mom in Connecticut and it wasn't available, which is a bit of a bummer given Teague's rave review.)

I know, I know, you shouldn't judge a book by its cover, but I definitely did when my Fresh Sends delivery hit my doorstep. The box was decked out in its Valentine's Day best, complete with red hearts, sweet details and a heartfelt reminder that I'm "seen, known, loved." The bouquet itself was wrapped in a red and pink edition of The Fresh Times (Fresh Sends' very own newspaper). Once I pulled the blooms out of the box, I uncovered yet another hidden gem: a message that said I'm receiving this gift because I "matter to someone." Cue the happy tears.
The attention to detail was unlike any other flower delivery service, and the same can be said for the flowers themselves. Fresh Sends doesn't lay out the specifics and instead says that you'll get "the freshest stems available," so it was a fun surprise to see a mix of roses, snapdragons, alstroemeria and more blossoming beauties.

A couple years back, I gave my mom a three-month subscription to BloomsyBox and it was perhaps one of the best gifts I've ever given (her words). At the time, she raved about how fresh the flowers were. It makes perfect sense: BloomsyBox ships flowers directly from the farms where they're picked, which means they arrive within days of being cut.
The same can be said for this Valentine's Day bouquet. While the greenery overpowered the flowers just a bit, the bold blooms were as farm fresh as it gets. Not only did they look the part, but I could smell the roses before I even cracked open the box.

A small swap here and there is expected, but ProFlowers took some liberties with Commerce Editor Kris Scott 's bouquet. Most notably, chrysanthemums were replaced with gerberas. "I love both, but the mums would have definitely given more contrast in terms of petal size and color," Scott notes. Plus, there were some cream roses thrown into the mix, and "the pretty silvery-green foliage was nowhere to be found in the bouquet delivered to me." Not everything was a downgrade, though: "The pink roses in my actual bouquet were sort of ombre, which I preferred."
On the plus side, the bouquet was hand-delivered in a short cylinder vase, which Scott liked "because it wasn't top-heavy and didn't feel like it was going to topple over at any point." Its flowers are cut fresh and shipped directly to your door, which is why The Bouqs says its blooms often peak about two or three days after their arrival. I found this to be true: The roses, in particular, looked a bit weathered when they first arrived (granted, I wasn't able to unbox them right away), but after a day's worth of water and sunshine, they perked back up.
If you're a rose rookie like I am, here's a tip: Some roses have guard petals, which are often lighter in color or have spots, so remove them before placing the flowers in a vase. Thankfully, The Bouqs had clear instructions, unlike some of the other delivery services on this list.

Saundra Latham/Yahoo
Flower variety:Roses, alstroemeria and carnations | Features:Arrives in a frosted red vase
Teleflora has its substitution policy front and center on its website and it means every word. Commerce Editor Saundra Latham's bouquet was very different from the one pictured online — hers featured only red roses and pink alstroemeria (no carnations or limonium in sight), plus it arrived in a clear glass cube wrapped in pink paper, not the red frosted jar specified in the description. "I do think this arrangement is a good example of how you can't trust that you'll get exactly what you see if you use a big middleman that uses local florists to fill its orders," she says.
And while she adds that the bouquet would "please any rose lover," it's not exactly the best pick for particular types. "I received zero care instructions and no flower food with this bouquet, which was a bit surprising based on previous experiences with flower arrangements," she adds. Even with the odds stacked against it, the bouquet survived five or six days before it began to wilt.

How to pick the best Valentine's Day flowers
Let your recipient guide you. Maybe they like to keep things traditional with red roses and carnations. Or perhaps they prefer something a little more unexpected like peonies or lilies. If you opt for roses, Rachel Cho, CEO of New York City's Rachel Cho Floral Design , recommends the "explorer rose for its strong head and deep red tone for a more sultry look." If you want "to create a more dynamic look," she suggests mixing in tulips, sweet peas, freesia, calla lilies or orchids.
How to make Valentine's Day flowers last
Most of the work is done before flowers even hit your doorstep, but there are a few things you can do to extend the life of your blooms. Cho suggests trimming the stems at an angle upon arrival and changing the water daily. "If you were given flower food, add a dash for each water change. If it's not on hand, a drop of bleach and a dash of sugar can also help," she says. Arrangements tend to do better in cooler temperatures, which is why Cho notes that you should "keep the flowers away from direct heat, air conditioning or sunlight."
