When I was a kid, I loved flipping through my grandmother's stack of food catalogs and looking at all the delicious baskets and goodies that you could get delivered to your door. I'll be honest — the very first time I laid eyes on Wolferman's Bakery , known for its signature English muffins , I wasn't overly excited. It's not that I don't like English muffins; they just typically wouldn't be my go-to. That is, until I tried them.
Wolferman's Bakery English muffins fully exceeded my expectations and then some — they're in a league of their own. Plus, Wolferman's offers plenty of other delicious baked goods you can add to specialty boxes and baskets that are totally gift-worthy. (In fact, I once gifted my grandma a basket for Mother's Day, so everything came full circle.)
If you too are looking for a great gift for a loved one in your life, or just want some incredible English muffins , Wolferman's should definitely be on your list.

What Is Wolferman's Bakery?
Wolferman's Bakery is an online gourmet bakery delivery service that offers English muffins, pastries, cakes, bagels, jams, jellies, and more. Founded in 1888 by Louis Wolferman in Kansas City, Missouri, Wolferman's has been providing its high-quality baked goods to its beloved patrons for over a century (so they're clearly doing something right). On the website, you can find standard gift boxes, specialty baskets, and towers, or you can choose your own items to go inside each one. The gift boxes, baskets, and towers can also be tailored to special events or holidays, personalized with gift notes, or even come in keepsake baskets and tote bags.

What Comes in a Wolferman's Bakery Box?
At Wolferman's Bakery, you can order boxes, baskets, towers, tins and totes, and then fill them with a selection of baked goods and other products. There are bagels, scones, loaf cakes, jams, coffee, danishes, and cinnamon rolls. (There are gluten-free options as well!)
In addition to an a la carte option, there are curated options like a Scone Sampler or Bakery Sampler Box. Wolferman's is best known for its distinctive extra-thick English muffins, so I tried Wolferman's English Muffin Sampler Basket and Bakery Sampler Box . They contained the following items:

How Much Does the Wolferman's Bakery Box Cost?
Wolferman's Bakery prices range depending on what you order. You can get a single Celebration Kringle Wreath for just $19.99 or a Bakery Sampler Box (like I did above) for $29.99, while some of the most expensive gift towers will set you back $159.99. (The English Muffin Sampler Basket I got was $44.99.) Standard shipping depends on your delivery address (mine was $16.99 for the English Muffin Sampler Basket), however there's a whole section on the website of items eligible for free shipping.
The online service often has sales, promo codes for first-time buyers, and holiday deals, so odds are you'll score a discount. The website has " gifts on sale " and " free shipping gifts " sections too. Wolferman's also offers monthly subscriptions for select items, including its preserves, butters, and English muffins, as well as a general bakery subscription. You can join Wolferman's Bakery Favorites Club for 3, 6, or 12 months. (Spoiler: September is Maple-Glazed Sweet Rolls.)
Why You Should Trust Me
I've tested and reviewed multiple meal kits, food products, and baked goods as part of my job at The Kitchn. I also am a lover of bread and a frequent cafe visitor, so I know a good pastry when I see one. Throughout my process of receiving the Wolferman's items, I took notes and tested them over the course of four weeks. All the items were reviewed by me in my own home kitchen.

Is Wolferman's Bakery Worth It? My Honest Review
As I mentioned above, I tried both the English Muffin Sampler Basket and the Bakery Sampler Box. There were some duplicate items among the boxes (both came with dark chocolate scones). Overall, the communication from order to delivery was great. The box arrived within a week, while the basket took a bit longer, about two weeks. (I did receive email updates that the shipment was delayed.)
Everything in both the box and basket were in good shape once they came. I appreciated that there wasn't excessive packaging and tons of unnecessary plastic. The box and basket both came packaged in an outer shipping cardboard box with some crumpled-up and shredded brown paper inside to cushion the items. The quality of the food was great, especially the muffins, so let's dive into the items.

You won't find better English muffins anywhere. I tried three flavors: original recipe, sourdough, and cinnamon raisin. All were SUPER thick (around two inches tall, four times the height of an ordinary English muffin) and tasted gourmet.
These have a doughiness and chew that you'd find from bakery-style bread. The aroma and flavor is reminiscent of stepping into a bakery. Nothing you'd find sitting on shelves at the grocery store comes close; these are simply unmatched. They also break apart easily (no cutting necessary) to create those signature nooks and crannies that are perfect pools for melted butter .
As far as flavors go, it's hard to choose a favorite. The 1910 is classic (it's the OG, after all). The San Francisco-style sourdough is similar, but has that signature tang. The cinnamon raisin has just the right amount of spice and isn't overly sweet. They're all winners. I'd order another box of just the English muffins alone.

The mini marble loaf, dark chocolate scone, and cinnamon roll didn't wow me as much, but they were still tasty and would pair well with coffee or tea. (They all tasted like something you could find at your local grocery store.) The mini loaf was sweet, buttery, and reminded me of a pound cake .

The chocolate scone was a bit drier than I'd like, and the texture reminded Mara, our director of groceries & shopping, of a muffin. The cinnamon roll's filling was a bit gritty and very sweet, but it improved when warmed up in the microwave.

The triple berry preserves were sweet and tart and a perfect accompaniment to my yogurt bowls .
Should YOU Try Wolferman's Bakery?
I highly recommend Wolferman's Bakery for the English muffins alone. I've never tried anything like them. Once you try them, you won't be able to go back to the other brands. (Seriously, they're that good.)
If you are someone who likes similar gift delivery services, such as Harry and David or Goldbelly , this is another great option to try. Wolferman's items are pre-packaged and wrapped, and you can add cards and personalizations on some of the keepsakes, so they make great gifts, too.
Would I subscribe to the monthly club? No, because I kind of like getting them as a special treat every now and again. Hint, hint, friends and family: I'd definitely be happy receiving one of the boxes for my birthday.
