How we tested candle warmers
After opening each box, I inspected the candle lamps and warmers for any scratches or dings and noted how to set them up and care for them. I installed the included halogen bulbs that came with each lamp and reviewed the instructions for the controls. I used each one to warm 4.9- and 7.2-ounce Mrs. Meyer's Clean Day candles and a 26-ounce three-wick Flamingo Estate candle several times.

Luzdiosa Candle Warmer Lamp: This warmer lamp with a glass shade is almost identical to our overall favorite, the Marycele Candle Warmer Lamp . However, this lamp's height is not adjustable, and its wood base has an indented circle that does not fit all candles. It does feature a dimmer and timer, and it comes with two halogen bulbs.
Sokcvsea Candle Warmer Lamp: I liked the library vibes of this candle warmer lamp with its black metal shade, gold-tone arm and dark wood oval-shaped base. Its height is adjustable, and the control features a dimmer, but no timer. The drawback to this good-looking base is that its shape limits the width of candles you can use.
Godonlif Candle Warmer Lamp: This model has yet another with a pleated glass lamp shade. The hardware and base are black metal, which mixes the traditional shade with a modern body in a way that I didn't love. It also feels a bit less sturdy than the others. This model's control has a dimmer and a more complex timer that can be set for up to 12 hours, but I couldn't figure out how to get it to turn on and off within a specific time range. What I do like is the price, which is about $7 less than our best candle warmer overall when neither model is on sale.
If you prefer to use larger candles like this 26-ounce, three-wick stunner, be sure to measure the height of the lamp and the width of the candle warmer base before buying.

Without the dish, you can place your preferred candle directly on the warmer, and it heats it from the bottom up. It turns on and off with the roll of the control dial on the cord, but it does not have auto-off functionality. I found that with all the plate warmers, candles took longer to release their scent than with lamp models.

Auto Shut-Off Plate: If you're looking for a safe way to infuse a room with the scent of your favorite candle, without the investment of many other models I tried, this could be it. For $17, you get what looks like a tiny plastic hot plate that plugs in and turns on and off with a rolling control switch on the cord. It's a no-frills entry into the market, but it does feature an auto-off function that's triggered after eight hours.

How to use a candle warmer
1. Install the halogen bulb, if applicable.
