Aldi Is About to Drop a Dozen Roses for Just $7, and They'll Sell Out Fast

Many people love having freshly cut flowers in their homes, but unless you have a garden overflowing with blooms, buying them regularly can get pretty pricey. That's why Aldi shoppers were thrilled when the retailer announced that it will sell a dozen roses for just $6.99 beginning September 9th.

Although Aldi didn't share any additional details about the blooms, the announcement included a gorgeous photo of a dozen red roses that look like they could grace the cover of a magazine or fill a vase in a beautifully curated home. We don't know whether other colors will be available, but at that price, we're tempted to pick up a few bouquets ourselves!

We have two teenage daughters who love keeping fresh flowers in their rooms, so we'll be swinging by Aldi to pick up a dozen for each of them, and maybe another dozen for ourselves. It's the perfect way to show someone you care without breaking the bank!

How to Keep Cut Roses Fresh for Longer

Keeping cut roses fresh for more than a few days is doable; it just takes a little more effort than filling a vase with water. Heinen's Grocery Store offers the following tips:

• Get the roses into water within one to three hours of purchasing them.

• Start with a clean vase by washing it with a small amount of bleach and liquid dish soap, then rinsing it thoroughly.

• Remove any leaves that will sit below the waterline. Submerged leaves encourage bacterial growth that can harm the roses.

• Follow the directions on the flower-food packet, using the recommended amounts of food and water. According to Teleflora , you can make your own by mixing a little sugar, citrus juice, and bleach.

• Before placing the roses in the vase, cut the stems at an angle with a sharp knife or garden pruners. Get them into the water immediately because the cut stems begin to seal within about 10 seconds.

• Change the water daily, recut the stems, and add more flower food according to the package directions.

• Display the roses in a cool spot away from direct light, drafts, heaters, and ripening fruit.

With a little extra care, Aldi's bargain blooms can brighten your home for days, that is, if you're lucky enough to snag them before they sell out!
