For everyday wear, nothing beats a great crossbody bag. The closet staple effortlessly blends form and function: The hands-free ease makes it an excellent travel purse and the range of styles is so vast, you never have to settle for a crossbody that looks frumpy or utilitarian.

The best crossbody bags are just as practical as they are stylish. We polled our style and shopping editors to find the styles they reach for every day, year after year, then rounded out their favorites across brands, designs and price points to come up with this list of the best.

Think: smart silhouettes with multiple pockets, travel-friendly options you can toss in the wash and even a charming under-$20 find you'll want in more than one color.

The best crossbody bags of 2026

Materials:Faux leather | Colors:2 | Dimensions:8" x 1" x 5"

Why we love it:This affordable purse proves you don't have to drop a ton of cash on a durable crossbody bag. Despite its small size, this bag packs a serious organizational punch, including six built-in credit card slots, an interior zippered coin pocket, two large zippered pockets and a dedicated smartphone pocket.

What our style editors say:"It's chic, featuring a faux leather exterior that doesn't chip or scuff like other cheap fabrics do," one former editor said of this budget-friendly style she had for more than four years. "I've taken it everywhere — flying, shopping, bar hopping, even hiking," she said. "It's small, but carries quite a bit more than you'd expect, all without making you feel like you're carrying a ton on your shoulder."

Keep in mind:It's only available in two colors, and some reviewers have reported issues with the zipper quality, though our editor said hers held up remarkably well.

Material:Polyester, nylon | Colors:17  | Size:7.5" x 2" x 5"

Why we love it:This lightweight convertible belt bag is truly always everywhere, including all over our shopping editors in the office. It's the perfect size, comes in a zillion colors, durable, easy to clean and has plenty of interior organization to fit a ton

What our style editors say:"If you're looking for a do-it-all, go-anywhere bag, this is it," wrote Senior Commerce Editor Rory Halperin in her Lululemon belt bag review . "The bag is cute, comfy, easy to wear and fits all of the essentials and then some. It can be worn in multiple ways (crossbody, slung on your shoulder or fanny-pack-style) [and] offers plenty of inside pockets (one large, two small) to keep things organized."

Keep in mind:"Be careful when opening the zipper," warns Halperin. "Depending on how the bag is situated on your body, I've accidentally dropped some stuff on the floor."

Material:Recycled nylon | Colors:15 | Size:8" x 13 ¾" x 4"

Why we love it:Whether you're traveling internationally or just running errands for the day, this midsize, lightweight, do-it-all crescent bag is a favorite among experts. It's cute yet understated, roomy yet compact and lightweight.

What our style editors say:Its lightweight and massive capacity are the biggest selling points. It weighs only 8 ounces but has a shockingly massive capacity. I love that you can wear it as a shoulder bag or an oversized sling bag, and that it comes in a ton of adorable colors and prints.

Keep in mind:That machine-washable nylon fabric makes it easy to fold down, so it's packable, but it's not the most structured when it's not filled, which can be frustrating.

Materials:Cotton canvas | Colors:3 | Dimensions:12" x 13" x 6"

Why we love it:A chic spin on L.L.Bean's iconic canvas tote, this cute crossbody version is giving Birkin-gone-New-England. Director of Commerce & Growth Experiences Jeanine Edwards she says it's one of her favorite styles for everyday wear. "I love that it's lightweight to wear all day running errands and that I don't have to worry about it getting scuffed up like leather would."

What our style editors say:"It's made from L.L.Bean's famous canvas, which is super durable but not heavy," Edwards says. Traveling soon? This carryall is big enough to fit all your daily essentials, plus a book and Edwards adds, "the beauty of a canvas bag is you can easily flatten/squash it to fit in your suitcase." It can also be monogrammed for a personal touch.

Keep in mind:The brand says this bag is spot clean-only, but many of our editors have machine-washed their Boat and Totes without issue. Just be sure to lay them flat to dry and reshape them.

Material: Leather | Colors: 7 | Size: 8.5" x 3.0" x 6.0"

Why we love it:Coach is a heritage brand that strikes a great balance of designer quality without obscene designer pricing. While it's no steal at $160, the bag's longevity and timeless style make it well worth the investment without venturing into the multi-hundreds range.

What our style editors say:Its interior is surprisingly roomy and organization like two credit card slots, and two snap pockets keep things streamlined. I love that the detachable handle and strap allow for versatile wear. "I wear it with the longer strap when I'm running errands, but opt for the shorter ones when I'm heading out at night," Gifting Editor Amanda Garrity said of a similar Coach style. "If I don't want to switch bags for a nicer occasion, I simply swap out the leather strap for the gold chain."

Keep in mind:It's a pricey bag, yes, but I've been a Coach stan since the early aughts and can vouch for its bags' high quality and lasting power. Garrity seconds it: she's had hers for years and said, "It's held up so well — there are no signs of wear and tear, no scuffs, nothing. It's worth every penny."

Materials:Polyester | Colors:1 | Dimensions:8.4" x 2" x 6.6"

Why we love it:This water-repellent crossbody is a favorite among a few Yahoo editors for its versatility and is perfect for everyday wear. Its convenient size is ideal: "I switched to this crossbody a few months back and haven't missed my shoulder bag one bit," says Senior Health Editor Laura Williams .

What our editors say: "This is an ideal 'go anywhere' crossbody for daily use," says Williams. It's the perfect size to hold enough without weighing you down: "I can fit a wallet, keys, phone, a small tablet, a few snacks for kids, chapstick and even my computer charger, but can't use it as a carryall for my computer or other kids' toys/supplies," says Williams.

Keep in mind: "It's casual, so not something you'd want to use when you're going out," says Williams, "but perfect for running errands, using as a gym bag or taking with you on a walk."

Material:Polyester | Colors:3 | Dimensions:9" x 7" x 4"

Why we love it: This designer pick is versatile, going from dinners out in the city to running errands. "It has the same look and feel as my favorite MJ tote, but the hands-free aspect is what I'm all about these days," says Halperin.

What our style editors say: "This little wonder fits all the essentials, and I literally take it everywhere," says Halperin. "Traveling, running errands, walking in the park, going out to dinner." She loves that the crossbody strap is adjustable for short or long wear too.

Keep in mind: Halperin notes that the soft polyester fabric can get a bit dirty, but it's easy to spot clean with a little soap and water or a wipe.
