Finding the best bra can be a feat. And for those with larger cup sizes, finding the right balance of comfort, support and fit can be especially tricky. Shopping in stores can mean limited options in your size. That can make it frustrating to find a comfortable bra within your budget. The good news is that there are reasonably priced, supportive bras for larger cup sizes out there.

For this article, we considered feedback only from those with cup sizes D and above and interviewed bra experts, advisors and designers for their expert recommendations. Why we love it:This bra is a longtime editor favorite with top scores, especially from testers with large busts and small bands. "It's one of the rare bras that fits true-to-size with minimal spill-over, no pinching, no weird gaping," said one DDD-cup tester. The bra earned near-perfect scores across the board. Its demi T-shirt style makes it a go-to under tight T-shirts and low-cut tanks alike.
What testers say: "This bra fits comfortably and lifts without digging in or hurting my shoulders or back," said one tester, who rated it 5/5 for comfort. "It looks great on. It doesn't have excessive padding, but prevents show-through and provides a natural, flattering shape. Best of all, it's truly comfortable; more comfortable than any bralette, wireless or even sports bra. I truly forget it has an underwire, and prefer it to nearly every other style out there."
Keep in mind:The interior fabric can pill over time, depending on the version you purchase, according to testers. "The adjustments on the satiny straps can also slip over time," said one. While most testers raved about the fit and style, a few noted that the lace was scratchy, which is worth noting if you tend to be sensitive to certain fabrics.

Why we love it: The only bra to get a perfect support score in our tests, Bali's T-shirt bra wowed testers for its quality, durability and lift. With an overall score of 4.5/5, it’s one of the only bras D+ testers scored tops for support, flattering shape, lift, separation and padding, making it a perfect, budget-friendly pick for anyone who wants serious lift on the cheap.
What testers say:"It felt like it kept everything in place and provided good structure," said one tester, who added it felt "extremely comfortable considering the fact it has underwire.” Its straps were a "real highlight," added a tester, who praised the quality, flexibility and versatility. The racerback hook "pulls up the back of the bra in a very flattering way that smooths the back. I thought it looked GREAT under clothes.”
Keep in mind:The material wasn't a fan favorite. Testers said the cups felt "oddly stiff even after a wash," and that the material didn't wick sweat very well. Testers also noted the cups gapped, but that the mesh overlay "feels nice, looks nice under clothes [and] does a good job smoothing any cup gapping." The double-lined, U-shaped style may not provide enough show-through coverage for some, and probably wouldn't work beneath lower-cut shirts.

Why we love it:With an overall score of 4.5/5, testers said this Skims bra lives up to its name with a true-to-size fit and noticeable lift. "This is a great bra for anyone who wants major support without venturing into push-up territory," said one tester. "It’s true to size, flattering and versatile.”
What testers say: This is the one to reach for when you want structured lift and support that looks great under T-shirts and tank tops alike. "The overall shape is very flattering; lifted and rounded without looking cartoonish," said one tester, who rated it 4.8 for support. It also got a perfect 5/5 for quality from testers who were wowed by its buttery material and ability to hold its shape through repeated wash-and-wear cycles.
Keep in mind:"The underwire is a bit uncomfortable at times," said one tester who ultimately rated the bra a 3.9 for comfort. "It can press on my ribs uncomfortably.” And sometimes, all its oomph ends up in the wrong place. “It can create too much cleavage at times," added one tester. "Some readjustment is needed to prevent boobs from smushing together.” Still, 100% of testers agreed they'd continue wearing it and would recommend it to a friend.

Why we love it:With a 4.2/5 overall score, the broad, smoothing band on this wireless bra not only offers great lift, but also offers smoothing side support with its wide-set straps and high sides. If you're "skeptical that a wireless bra can offer much support, I think this is a great one to try," said one tester.
What testers say: This wireless bra earned a 4.4/5 for support. A tester called this bra's lift its "strong suit," adding that it "provides better lift and shaping than a lot of [other] bras out there. The molded cups keeps everything where it should be." Testers also gave this bra a 4.6 for quality and durability, saying its fabric feels "smooth but has a nice heft to it," calling it "very simple in a good way; it's not detectable under thinner shirts."
Keep in mind: Some of our testers said it "runs small and I had to go up a band size and down a cup size (to my 'sister size')." It had a similar score for comfort due to some shifting inside the cups.

Why we love it:If you're looking to make your cup size look smaller, this minimizer can reduce the protrusion of your bust line by up to 1.5 inches, according to Vanity Fair. "This bra is a minimizer and I really felt an immediate difference putting this bra on after having a non-minimizer on," said one tester. "I definitely feel like it's keeping the girls in place."
What testers say: With wide side and back support bands made with a four-way stretch material, testers loved the fit, saying it "feels very smooth and soft like buttah — even at the tightest level." One added, "I swear this might be the most comfortable underwire bra I've worn in a while, possibly ever," which earned it perfect scores for comfort — a rarity for an underwire style.
Keep in mind:While the cups are full-coverage, this bra is completely unpadded. That may not provide sufficient nipple coverage for some. It is also only available in a limited range of cup and band sizes, so while we appreciate its plus-size-friendly, it's not for smaller bands.

What testers say:Strapless bras can buckle at the base with repeated wear, especially beneath the weight of larger breasts. But testers rated this one 5/5 for durability, saying this bra's "strong molded cups that give a nice rounded shape and holds up beautifully through five-plus years of wear." And it stays put, testers confirmed. "It's rare to find a strapless bra that doesn't flatten, dig in or slip down, but this one manages to do all three," one tester said.
Keep in mind:It looks super smooth under all types of fabrics, though it comes up rather high, so it may peek out of some dress silhouettes. Like all strapless styles that rely on a snug fit to stay in place, it can feel a little restrictive after hours of wear. The trade-off is its durability.

What testers say: With a 4.9 comfort score, testers said, "the straps and band are comfortable and stay in place well without shifting, slipping or riding up.” And with a 4.8 for support, testers liked that "the shape is always nice and natural, and the silhouette all the way around is smoothing."
Keep in mind: "The padding may be a bit much for everyday wear," said one tester. If you prefer more streamlined bras, it might not be the right pick for you, but testers also appreciated that there was absolutely zero show-through.

Why we love it: Kimmay Caldwell , undergarment educator at Hurray Kimmay, says all Elomi bras are great for large breasts, but this is her favorite. "It has seams for support, including side support, plus fully adjustable, convertible straps, an amazing size range and a plunge front." Our recommendation is based on Caldwell’s expertise; we haven’t wear-tested this style ourselves.
What experts say:Though it's padding-free, the structured seams and thoughtful design work together for bulk-free support and lift. "It's hard to find a more plunging front for full busts, but this center gore is lower and the bra keeps breast tissue in place," says Caldwell. The straps can be converted to a racerback with the J-hook, and there's an underwire for even more lift and versatility.
Keep in mind:The all-lace construction can take some getting used to. A few online reviewers noted that the bra felt stiff upon first wear, and you'll want to make sure you're in the right size to prevent any uncomfortable shifting.

Lane Bryant is well-known for its wide range of sizes and well-fitting bras for sizes 10-40. The balconette shape on this bra provides great lift, and the wide, supportive straps help dial in the fit without digging into your shoulders.
What experts say:"This is a great everyday bra that offers support and a sexy lift," says Lau. Experts liked the supportive, molded cups and love that it's available in an inclusive range of plus sizes, with bands up to a size 50 and cups up to a K.
Keep in mind:This bra isn't available in band sizes below a 36, so anyone with a smaller ribcage will have to look elsewhere. Also, some shoppers have found that the bra stretches slightly over time; make sure the bra fits on its loosest hook at the time of purchase so you can adjust it with further wear.

What experts say: Freya's "full-cup bras are super comfy for that eight-hour everyday bra," says Elisabeth Dale , author of The Bra Zone and founder of the Breast Life. This one is also among our picks for best support bras for its full-coverage molded cups and supportive underwire that work together to smooth, separate and lift the bust without adding a ton of weight to the shoulders.
Keep in mind:Since this is a full-cup, full-coverage style, the tops of the bra cups may show under certain necklines (think plunge or V-necks). Also, though this bra is small-band-friendly, it only goes up to a 38 band, so it's not ideal for plus sizes.

How we test bras for large breasts
Our in-depth process for testing bras gathers feedback from testers with a range of body types, sizes and preferences. In our most recent test of bras for all sizes, we gathered feedback from 13 testers with band sizes 30 to 40 and cup sizes B through G who wear-tested 19 bras and logged more than 600 scores and nearly 200 written responses on fit, comfort, support, quality and overall satisfaction.
For this article, we focused only on feedback from testers with D-cups and larger, from band sizes 32 to 40, pulling from more than 200 points of feedback and 70 comments. We also talked to bra experts, advisors and designers who weighed in on the standout bras for large busts that truly deliver all they claim. The result: these large bust-friendly options that lift, separate and support while actually looking cute without causing pain.
Factors to consider when choosing a bra for large breasts
Bras can be an investment — make sure you're spending wisely by considering these expert tips.
Size
As with any bra, finding your correct size is essential to staying comfortable and supported. "Bras are like shoes — the wrong size will feel awful," says Caldwell. Not up for a professional fitting? See below for more on measuring your size at home.
Support
Every bust needs support, but especially larger ones. Caldwell suggests opting for bras with thick seams as they "not only shape the cup more forward, but they act like support beams on a bridge." Thicker bands are also necessary, as they provide up to 90% of the bra's support. "The fuller the bust, the more work the band needs to do, so a wide, adjustable band, preferably made with some kind of power mesh or slightly firmer elastic, is a great idea," she adds.
Straps
When it comes to bras for bigger breasts, the wider the straps, the better, experts say. "Wider straps provide increased comfort and support for those with fuller figures wearing larger cup sizes," Lau says. In particular, she recommends wide, non-stretch straps, saying they're more likely to give you the all-day lift and support you need.
Type of cup
In general, larger busts need roomier cups, so you might look for a "deep cup with lots of forward projection if you want to avoid a very wide look," Caldwell says. Lau adds, "The cup should also have a bit of stretch, but not too much, to offer the support, comfort and shape needed for larger sizes."

For the purposes of this article and our testing, a D-cup and above is considered a large bust size.
Are underwires necessary for larger busts?
You may think that underwires are a no-brainer for providing the support larger busts need, but that's not the case. "They're totally optional, even for fuller busts," Caldwell says. "As long as the bra fits well, going wire-free can still provide the level of support and shape a full-busted person desires." Lau agrees, saying that modern bras have come a long way. "The benefits of today's technology make wireless bras perform just as effectively as with wires."
How can I measure to find my bra size?
Using a soft tape measure, "wrap the tape measure snugly (but not tightly) around your rib cage," says Noemi Diaz-Justino, intimates design consultant and former senior design director of lingerie brand True & Co. "Next, wrap the tape loosely around the fullest part of your bust. Now subtract the rib measurement from the bust measurement. The difference will determine your cup size."
