Runways, red carpets and real style: Mass. fashion scene lights up between now and October
From streetwear and sneakers to couture gowns and drag makeup, fashion is taking over Massachusetts this summer and fall — and everyone's invited to the runway.
Fashion lovers across the state can catch the creativity as Springfield Fashion Week and Boston Fashion Week roll out a packed lineup of shows, workshops, and community events.
Whether it's sustainable style, high-end glam, or just wanting to learn how to strut the catwalk, there's something for every age and interest.
Here's a look at what's happening in each city.

Springfield to spotlight style, sustainability, community
Springfield Fashion Week is kicking things off with a full week of fashion shows, pop-up events and community fun.
Sunday: Fashion week starts with a mix of cars and clothes at Balise Hyundai, 683 East Columbus Ave. A car show begins at 3 p.m., followed by a streetwear fashion show at 4 p.m.
Tuesday: It's all about eco-friendly fashion at Gasoline Alley, 250 Albany St. Thrift shopping starts at 4:30 p.m., and the Sustainable Fashion Show begins at 7 p.m.
Aug. 9: The big finale happens at Symphony Hall. Two shows will feature everything from wedding dresses to bold, high fashion looks: Rivet Fashion Show at 5 p.m. with designers from New York, Connecticut and Massachusetts; and the Gala Fashion Show at 7 p.m., with DJs, special guests and a dress code that says: "Look like you belong in the front row."
Aug. 17: Learn to walk the runway with model Arianna Wilson at 32 Hampden St. for a two-hour workshop at 10 a.m.
The glitz, the glamour, the outrageous and the bazaar —as to be expected—strolled down the catwalk at the city's most infamous landmarks.
Boston Fashion Week: Classic luxury, storytelling
Boston's 31st Fashion Week is bringing the glam with big shows and inspiring events from Oct. 5 to 11.
Oct. 9: A Night Around the World: Fashion Show '25 at 7 p.m. at 15 Newbury St. is a celebration of diversity and beauty in the Boston fashion scene and raising money for Girl Up United Nations.
Oct. 10: The Classical Luxury Show at 7 p.m. at 15 Newbury St. is a fancy, invite-only event with top designers, red carpet photos and VIP perks.
Oct. 10: Glam Slam is a storytelling event where fashion pros share real-life stories about their careers — some funny, some emotional, all inspiring. Hosted by comedian Bethany Van Delft.
Oct. 11: "Teen Talk: Fashion 101″ is a free event at the Boston Public Library. Teens can hear from fashion experts about how they got started and what it's really like to work in the industry.

Other fashion events
Oct. 24 to 25: Fab Passion Fashion Week New England will be held at the Community Music School, 127 State St., Springfield. Attendees are invited to meet the fashion leaders blending global influences to shape bold, new styles.
Aug. 23: Boston Got Sole is from 12 to 6 p.m., held at the DCU Center. This huge sneaker convention has 300 vendors and a special appearance by Celtics star Jaylen Brown. There will be giveaways, contests and surprise celebrity guests.
Sept. 13: An Evening in the Garden celebrates transformation, where fashion and fitness bloom side by side, from 6 to 10 p.m. at Hibernian Hall, 184 Dudley Street, Boston.
Aug: 31: During the Worcester Draglesque Festival, learn to do drag makeup from Lana Backwards at 3 p.m. at a free beginner class at the Jean McDonough Arts Center. Ages 13-plus welcome, and the first 10 people get a free makeup kit.
