I asked 6 style insiders who makes the best jeans — they all had the same exact answer

As someone who writes about fashion for a living, I spend every day reporting on style trends, testing clothing and interviewing stylists and designers to figure out which clothing is truly the best for most people. Getting two fashion experts to agree on something: Difficult. Six? Nearly impossible.

But lately, I've noticed a common theme. When it comes to the best jeans , one recommendation keeps coming up: Abercrombie & Fitch's denim . They're the jeans our fashion experts and editors keep recommending. It's one of the worst-kept secrets in affordable fashion — and my inner 2000s teen is thrilled.

"There is a current return of '90s and Y2K fashion," says celebrity stylist Derek Warburton . "It's just the right mix of nostalgic fashion, while fitting modern sensibilities." The style alone wouldn't be enough to sustain the enduring cult-favorite status, though. That's thanks to the jeans' fit, comfort and versatility.

"Abercrombie jeans have a very recognizable silhouette, while featuring a wide selection of different fits and inseams," says Warburton. "Most Abercrombie & Fitch jeans are stretchable without sacrificing structure, while being available in different washes and tones." Plus, they're highly wearable. "It's not strange to see Abercrombie jeans being reused throughout the day for different outfits," he adds.

No fewer than three Yahoo Shopping editors call A&F jeans their favorites, whether it's for cute white jeans , the best jeans for tall women , perfect denim for petites or trendy wide-leg styles and loose-fitting baggy styles . "Abercrombie is my go-to," echoes fashion influencer Macy McCoy . "They have multiple inseam options, which is a must for tall girls, amazing quality, so many styles to choose from and the fit is so good."

"I'm personally a huge fan of the … whole Abercrombie Curve Love line in general," says Lauren Myrick, personal stylist and founder of Trendstylr . Senior Editorial Manager Zainab Akande , our resident jean fiend , heartily agrees. "If waist gaps are your mortal enemy or you want jeans that are more forgiving around the hips and thighs, you need Curve Love," she says. This cut features an additional two inches of room at the hip and thigh to fit properly over the hips and waist on curvier bodies.

What makes Abercrombie jeans so good?

Three of the brand's standout denim styles — High Rise 90s Relaxed jeans, High Rise 90s Straight jeans and Ultra High Rise 90s Straight jeans — share a few key commonalities: They're all full-length styles made with the brand's Vintage Comfort Stretch fabric, a structured denim with a very slight stretch from 1% elastane. They all come in Classic and Curve Love fits and feature a fitted waist in sizes 23–38, looser thighs, a straight leg and multiple inseams. That's where the similarities end, though.

Ultra High-Rise 90s Straight jean review

✔️ Best for:A slim, streamlined but still relaxed fit with a high waist and lots of length options, including an extra-long 34.5-inch option.

Beloved by petites and tall jean-lovers alike, this pair is what Warburton calls Abercrombie's "best in versatility, sporting a class[ic] 90s-inspired silhouette that makes it easy to pair with most clothing." Of the three, it offers both the shortest and longest inseams, with five options ranging from an extra-short 26.5 inches to an extra-long 34.5 inches. The "ultra-high" rise actually sits at the height of the Relaxed High Rise, and though the fit is similarly fitted across the midsection and tush, the leg is a bit tapered for a slightly more polished look.

"I opt for these when I want a more fitted look, and because I often have to contend with gapping at the waist, I appreciate that they come in a 'Curve Love' style that eliminates it," says Senior Deals Writer Britt Ross. "They're 99% cotton and just a tad stretchy (I prefer more structured denim), and the 'short' length is a swell fit for my five-foot-tall frame." Myrick says she's a "huge fan" of this style too.

High-Rise 90s Relaxed jean review

✔️ Best for: Anyone who wants a longer, more relaxed high-rise style with tons of washes and color options.

Consider this easy-breezy, universally flattering pair the cool girl of the pack. They offer a classic fit that sits high on the waist with an 11.5-inch rise and a snug, straight fit through the hips and tush. There's plenty of breathing room through the thighs into a full-length, relaxed leg.

"I swear by Abercrombie's 90s Relaxed style," says Commerce Initiatives Editor Julia Webb . "They're fitted to give you a great shape without being super tight." All inseams on this style are slightly longer than those on the brand's other styles, with the "long" inseam measuring 33.5 inches. Webb, who's around 6 feet tall, says it's tall girl-friendly. "I always opt for the long length and the classic fit, but I have this cut in a few colors." And there are plenty to choose from. With 33 color options, this is Abercrombie's broadest offering.
