MTG Marvel Super Heroes The Fantastic Four Commander Deck Review
The MTG Marvel Super Heroes The Fantastic Four Commander Deck is one of four Commander precons released with Magic: The Gathering's Marvel Super Heroes set. Each deck brings together iconic Marvel characters, new cards, and reprints in a ready-to-play package. In this review, we'll go over the deck's overall strategy, highlight its best new cards and reprints, and evaluate the complete package. By the end, you'll know whether The Fantastic Four Commander Deck is worth adding to your collection.
Strategy and Gameplay
The Fantastic Four Commander Deck is a four-color, sans black precon themed around Marvel's First Family. It centers around casting noncreature spells to trigger the unique abilities of each member, with their abilities complementing each other.
The deck's game plan revolves around casting noncreature spells to generate value while bringing together the Fantastic Four. Each member contributes to the strategy individually, but the deck truly shines when more of Marvel's First Family are fighting alongside one another.

Each member of The Fantastic Four can act as this precon's face commander. All of them are mono-colored commanders with a four-color ability that allows them to helm the deck. They all have a base ability that's triggered if you've cast a noncreature spell this turn. Also, each of them has a more powerful ability that can be activated by paying the deck's four colors.
Invisible Woman creates walls, Mister Fantastic draws you a card, Human Torch gets powerful combat keywords, and The Thing gets +1/+1 counters. Wizards of the Coast did a great job at interpreting each member's powers within the constraints of Magic: The Gathering's color pie.
Interestingly, none of them have the partner mechanic so only one of them can be your commander. However, each of their abilities complements each other well if you manage to get all four of them onto the battlefield.
Best New Cards
Each Marvel Super Heroes Commander Deck introduces over 30 brand-new cards to Magic: The Gathering. While there are plenty of exciting additions, here are the six new cards that stand out the most.

This is why I think these six are the most notable new cards in this precon:
-
Crystal, Inhuman Princess - Is a mana dork for all four of this precon's colors that deals damage to each opponent when you cast noncreature spells.
-
Willie Lumpkin, Postman - An unblockable card advantage engine that can prevent your opponents from attacking you.
-
Valeria Richards, Precocious - Reduces the cost of your noncreature spells and makes you draw a card when you cast your first noncreature spell each turn.
-
Council of Reeds - A powerful scaling threat that can multiply exponentially when you cast noncreature spells.
-
Silver Surfer, Galactus' Herald - Fetches Galactus and can goad a creature when he deals combat damage to a player.
-
Galactus, Devourer of Worlds - A massive flying, indestructible threat with trample that also exiles a permanent when he enters.
Notable Reprints
In addition to its new cards, each Marvel Super Heroes Commander Deck also includes a selection of returning cards. Here are the most notable reprints in the precon.

The first notable reprint in The Fantastic Four precon is Rejuvenating Springs, the Green/Blue bond land. These lands are great in Commander because they're pretty much guaranteed to enter untapped.
Next, Quantum Misalignment is a powerful sorcery that first appeared in the Doctor Who set. It creates a nonlegendary token copy of a creature you control. This is great for copying your creatures to get additional value from their abilities. This sorcery also has rebound, letting you recast it for free on your next upkeep for additional value.
Finally, Seize the Day is another great sorcery that's been reprinted in The Fantastic Four precon. It lets you untap a creature then get an additional combat phase and main phase. This sorcery also has Flashback, letting you recast it from your graveyard. Seize the Day is a fantastic finisher to help you close out games through combat damage.
Should You Buy It?
The Fantastic Four commander precon faithfully captures the feeling of playing as Marvel's First Family. This precon contains many noncreature spells to enable the powerful abilities of The Fantastic Four. The included spells are also incredibly impactful on their own.
However, this precon is held back by its land base, which is inefficient. This isn't surprising since four-color and above precons typically don't have great lands. When upgrading this deck, I'd prioritizing improving the land base first so it's easier to cast your spells.
