Secret Lair X MSCHF: The Zeta Set Revealed

Wizards of the Coast has revealed Secret Lair X MSCHF: The Zeta Set for Magic: The Gathering. The Zeta Set is inspired by early playtests of Magic before the game officially launched. It also marks the first Secret Lair product to be sold in booster packs.

The set was revealed in a video posted on the official Secret Lair X account .

What is the Zeta Set?

The Zeta Set is inspired by Magic's early playtest cards and designed to look like them. There will be 121 cards in the set, featuring reprints of some of Magic's most iconic cards. Some notable reprints included in the set are Chrome Mox, Sensei's Divining Top, and Urborg, Tomb of Yawgmoth.

Each Zeta Set booster pack will contain 7 cards. There will be 3 commons, 2 uncommons, 1 rare or mythic rare, and 1 card of any rarity.

The set will have 52 commons, 39 uncommons, 20 rares, and 10 mythic rares. A card gallery of the possible pulls can be found here .

Different Visual Styles in The Zeta Set

The Zeta Set's cards can come in three visual styles inspired by old school photocopies.

The first style is a traditional photocopy treatment that gives these cards that classic playtest look. Next, there's a photocopy negative treatment which has inverted colors. Finally, the third treatment is the color banding print, which is inspired by printer malfunctions.

How Much is a Zeta Set Booster Pack?

The Zeta Set booster packs will cost $19.92 USD each. There will be a limit of 12 packs per buyer.

The Zeta Set Release Date

The Zeta Set can be purchased through the Secret Lair Chaos Vault and will go live on September 2, 2026, at 12 P.M. EST.
