What is up, Cubs fans?
And welcome back to Cubs Roundtable.
I'm Joey Polizzi, talking about all things Cubs.
And the Cubs might be playing their worst baseball of the season.
They are just three and 14 in their last 17 contests, but there are several Cubs players who are playing their best baseball right now.
The first player is Alex Bregman.
After a slow start to the season, Bregman has noticeably picked it up at the plate.
Bregman is batting 322 over his last 14 contests and has a current seven-game hitting streak.
The slow start is, is not really unusual for Bregman.
He's kinda always been a slow starter throughout his career, and as the warm, as the weather warms up, so does Bregman's bat.
So you should expect his numbers to continue to improve over the next few months.
The second player that continues to pitch well is Jacob Webb.
Kind of a rough start to the season for Webb.
Had over a five ERA entering May.
But in the month of May, Webb has been the Cubs' best reliever in the bullpen.
Webb has a .69 ERA in 11 May appearances, and he continues to strike out batters at an elite rate.
His chase rate, whiff rate, and strikeout rate all rank in the top 10% of the league.
Webb has established himself as a reliable bullpen arm for this Cubs team.
And the last pitcher that is really pitching his best so far this season is Ben Brown.
Ben Brown, kind of a weird start to the year in the bullpen.
Struggled in his first few appearances out of the bullpen.
But since moving to the rotation on May 8th, Brown has been incredible for the Cubs.
He just threw six innings of one-run ball with seven strikeouts against the Pirates in his last start, and has a 1.75 ERA in four starts for the Cubs this season.
Brown really pitching so far in the rotation really well, and we'll see what happens with, with him moving forward.
But let me know what you guys think about these three players and how well they have done recently.
And as always, guys, go Cubs go.
