That, I think, brings us very nicely to our topic number four here, which is, has all to do with free agency and the salary cap.
So this is really nerdy stuff for most people, but, I know you like- Oh ... this kind of stuff.
Um- Oh, love this stuff.
The Packers were about 30 million over the salary cap a couple weeks ago.
And they, they cut Trayvon Diggs, who they brought in for the end of the season.
He, he took about 15 mil off, off of that.
So they're still at about 10, 15 over the cap, okay?
Mm-hmm.
We're looking at a, a free agency class here in which Quay Walker, the linebacker, is a free agent.
Malik Willis, quarterback, we've talked about a lot, free agent.
Sean Ryan, their center, is a free agent.
and Romeo Doubs, those are, those are kind of the big names.
Yeah.
Rasheed Walker, the left tackle, and then Kingsley Enigbare, who was like a He was kind of like a, a, your, your depth defensive end, right?
Yep.
So they don't have a lot of money to work with.
let me tell you what I think.
I would do anything you can to bring back Quay Walker.
I thought he had a great season.
he's developed into a leader, and, and in today's NFL, you really want athletic, fast, strong linebackers.
and I'd say let everybody else walk.
But do you have any thoughts on just kind of that initial group right there?
Yeah, I, I mean, that's, that's really it, right?
You- Doubs is gonna be gone, unfortunately.
Yep.
Malik Willis is gonna be gone- Malik Willis is gonna be a starter next year.
While you were talking there, I was pointing to my Browns helmet right here.
I don't know if you- Okay.
Because- You'd take Malik?
He can come live in my house.
Like, let's go.
Let's go.
Let's go, dude, I got a place for you, brother.
yeah, not that you need it, but, yeah, I would I'd take Malik.
There's gonna He's gonna be a starter next year, in my opinion.
But you're right, man, I, I think that, you know, you do what you can to keep Quay around, and then the rest of them are probably gone.
You know, you're probably gone, and you probably go try to, you know, buff up the offensive line, if you need to, in, in the dra- well, you'll definitely need to, but in the draft or a different free agent.
But, you know, the, the NFL salary cap I find is funny to me, Andrew, because these GMs just, like, will manipulate it and be like, "All right- Right ... one day you're 10 million under."
They, they hit the button on a couple contracts, pay a couple guys with a bag of cash, and you're like- Right ... "All of a sudden they got 40 million."
You're like- Right ... "All right.
Cool, man.
Like, I'll take it," right?
It, it's kind of like Monopoly money, you know?
Yeah.
Like, sure, we need to stay within this framework, but if you want somebody, you're gonna figure out how- Yeah ... how to bring them in.
