Study Rooms

The Moline Public Library study rooms are for quiet study by individuals or small groups. The fundamental objective of these study rooms is to provide a suitable environment for research, study and reading. 

Study rooms are available on a first-come, first-served basis. Study rooms cannot be reserved in advance. Personal items cannot be left in a study room to reserve or "hold" the room for use. 

There is no fee for the use of study rooms.

Groups exceeding the rooms' occupancy limits may be asked to leave. Groups of 2 or fewer may be asked to move to a smaller study room, if available, if groups of 3 or more request a room.

Study room users in the Adult Services Department must be 13 years of age or older. Children under the age of 13 may be present when accompanied by an adult.

Study room users in the Children's Services Department must be 12 years or younger, an adult with children 12 or under, or an adult utilizing the children's reference materials.

Behavior

Study room users must adhere to the behavioral guidelines of all applicable library policies. Individuals will be asked to leave if they disturb others or engage in destructive or inappropriate behavior. Please see the Information Desk for copies of the policies governing behavior in the library.

Smoking and alcoholic beverages are not allowed in any area at the library.

Users may not tack or tape anything on the walls. Users may not cover the windows to the study rooms.

The study rooms are not sound-proof. Noise should be kept to a library-appropriate level.

Time Limits

Use of the library's study rooms is limited to two separate two-hour periods per day. Exceptions may be made at the discretion of the supervising librarian or the library director.

At the discretion of the librarian, any study room left unattended for more than 20 minutes may be considered available for use by others. Items left in these unattended rooms will be considered lost and placed in the library's Lost & Found, located on the first floor at the Circulation Desk.

All study rooms should be vacated 10 minutes prior to library closing time.

Damage and Liabilities

Do not leave valuables unattended in the study rooms. The Moline Public Library assumes no responsibility for property brought into the building. 

Damage to study rooms will result in loss of library privileges and possible monetary reimbursement for damage to library property.
