Drugmaker to pay if cancer treatment fails

いやあ、ついにやる奴が出てきましたね。6月3日のFTの記事によりますと、A British-based drugmaker has made a groundbreaking offer to the National Health Service to cover the cost of a £25,000 cancer drug if a patient using it failed to show adequate progress.The NHS would only pay for the new drug, Velcade, when patients responded well to it, under a joint proposal from Janssen-Cilag the drugs maker, and the National Institute for Clinical Excellence, the body that recommends which treatments the NHS should adopt.まあ、抗がん剤を打っても効かなかった場合は金を払わなくていいよという話。もちろん、個人ではなくて、国がReimburseしなくていいよという話だけど。確かに、抗がん剤の世界ではそういうこともあるのかも知れない。慢性疾患について治療目標値まで、とはいかなくても、一定以上治療効果が得られない場合は支払いなし、なんてことになったら、変わるだろうなあ。ただ、Thresholdをどのように決めるかは、ちょっと問題になりそうだよね。http://www.ft.com/cms/s/e98d136c-11fb-11dc-b963-000b5df10621.html
