　じつは色づきはじめていることに気付いたのは、朝、新聞を取りに出て、ふと足許を見ると落ち柿が一つころがっていた。鳥が啄んだのであろう、半分に喰いちぎられていたが、それが色づいた実だった。それであらためて目を挙げて木を見やると、鈴生りに色づいていることに気付いたのである。

The persimmons in my small garden began to
change orange color. Apporoximately 10 small green
fruits fell every day around May, and I wasn't counting
them each time, but they would have exceeded 200.
Every year it was a harvest that was large quantities,

year, I was thinking that I might not be able to have
harvest persimmons while I was sweeping small green
fruits.
Actually, I noticed that it was beginning to change
color, when I picked up the newspaper in the morning
and suddenly looked at my foot, there was one falling
persimmon. Perhaps a bird ate, and it was cut in half,
but it was a colored fruit. When I raaised my eyes
again and looked at the tree, I noticed that green
persimmons were growing and starting coloring
with heavily laden on the branches.

　先日、市役所から電話があった。今年は国勢調査があり、私にその調査員をやってもらえまいかと言った。担当するのは山の斜面にひろがる住宅地区。私が民生委員・児童委員として歩き馴れている地区である。「もし、ご健康ならば、是非お願いしたい」と言う。
　私は今まさに二つの国際展をひかえて作品の最終仕上げに忙しいので、ヨワッタなと思った。しかし、考えるまでもなく、この山の斜面を歩き回るのは平地に住んでいる人が調査員として担当したなら、なかなか大変である。私は市役所としばらくやりとりをした後、調査員を引き受けることにした。要は私の一日の時間の使い方の問題に過ぎない。休み無く仕事をすることが私は嫌いではないだろう？　と自分に言い聞かせて。

　そんなわけで、今日、午前10時から12時までの国勢調査員説明会に市役所へ行ってきた。
　COVID-19禍の最中の会合なので、市役所も相応の対処設定をし、一回の参加人員を限定して、広い会議室に一人一台の長机でわずか10人ばかり。もちろん消毒用アルコールも備え、入室時には体温を計測して。
　おそらく日野市の全調査員は200人以上にはなるであろう。したがって説明会もそれに見合った回数を開催しなければならない。市役所の仕事もたいへんである。
　調査委員と各世帯との直接対面調査が従来の方法であったが、今回ばかりは、極力対面を避ける方法が採られる。インターネットによる回答が可能なので、インターネット回答が推奨されているのもCOVID-19の感染を防ぐため。調査員としての私の実働は始まっていないが、各世帯には是非インターネットを活用していただきたいものである。

　日本国勢調査は1920年に始まった。5年毎に行われて来た調査は、今年でちょうど100年目になる。国勢調査員（統計調査員）の身分は、地方公務員法第3条で特別職の非常勤職員として規定され、宣誓のうえ、総務大臣が任命する。

briefing from 10 am to 12 am.
Because the meeting is in the middle of COVID-19
influence, the city hall has also set up appropriate
measures, limited the number of people who can
attend once, and there are only 10 people in each
large desk in the large conference room. Of course,
rubbing alchol is also provided, so measure your
body temperature when entering room.
Probably the total number of the census takers of
Hino City will be over 200. Therefore, the informa-
tion session must be held as many times as necessary.
The work of the city hall is also difficult.
The conventional method was a face-to-face
survey between the census taker and each household,
but this time, a method to avoid face-to-face contact
is adopted as much as possible. Since it possible to
respond via the internet, it is recomended to use the
internet response to prevent COVID-19 infection.
Although my actual work as a census taker has not
started, I would like each household to utilize the
internet.
