　政策の変更と同時に、自治体における感染者数・感染による死亡者数が報道されなくなった。国の対策委員会トップが、対策が多忙を極めているので全国感染者総数の把握を中止する提言をした。
　私は、全く非科学的な愚かな考えだと批判した。

　大変なことは重々承知しているし、目にも見えている。しかし統計をとるということは、いまこの時の対策のためばかりではなく、はるか将来を見越してのことだ。将来の科学的判断のための重要な基礎資料となる。それをきちんと制作して、残してゆくことは、いつの時代であろうと今を生きている人間の責務である。このたびのような事態ならば、医学的な判断材料としてのみならず、パンデミックやクラスターが社会全体をどんな状態にするのか、人々はどんな動きをするのか、どんな対応策がシステム化されるべきなのか・・・そのような社会学的な研究の重要資料となるはずなのだ。政策および現場対応責任者には非科学的な思考者は任につけるべきではないのだ。人間は誰しもが不安に煽られて右往左往する。しかし、不安を動機とするその場しのぎの政策は、必ずや将来に禍根を残す。・・・私の批判の矛先はそこまでおよぶ。

scientific judgement. It is the duty of people who live
in the present to create and leave them properly, no
matter what era they are in. In the event of a situation
like this, it should not only be used as a basis for
medical judgement, but also what kind of situation
pandemics and clusters will affect society as a whole,
what kind of movements people will take, and what
kind of countermeasures should be systematized.
Or... it should be an important material for such
sociological research. No unscientific thinker should
be in charge of policy and field response. All human
being are driven back and forth by anxiety. However,
stopgap policies motivated by anxiety will inevitably
leave troubles in the future. ... that's where my
criticism goes.
