衆議院総選挙、自由民主党の歴史的大敗北３０日（30aug2009, Sun）第45回衆院選は投票、即日開票され、民主党の獲得議席が、定数480のうち308に達する圧勝、選挙前のマスメディアの大方の予想軽く超えてしまいました。いわゆる小泉チルドレンが消え去り、大量の小沢チルドレンの登場と言う一面も観察できます。民主党による日本の舵取り、世界が注目。

Space shuttle Discovery 出立

シャトル Discovery の打ち上げ、再延期

Launch was tentatively reset for Friday, assuming the problem can be resolved in time.金曜日までにバルブの問題が解決されたらと言う前提条件の下、金曜日まで延ばされたとのことです。もしも、部品の問題でエンジンを開けることになれば、１０月１７日頃まで打ち上げが延びるそうです。今回の打ち上げ タイミング ウインドウは次の日曜日までの由。このあとは、日本やロシアの衛星打ち上げ日程等が迫っているのも影響するそうです。宇宙空間も、結構混んで来ているようです。

韓国、衛星打ち上げロケット発射
２５日(August 25, 2009 Tue)韓国は、衛星（the Naro-1 ）打ち上げロケットを発射しました。The New York TimesAsia PacificSouth Korea Launches Satellite SEOUL, South Korea - South Korea launched a rocket into space from its own territory for the first time on Tuesday, but the mission failed to put a satellite into its intended orbit, a South Korean official said.しかし、衛星を所定の軌道に乗せることには、失敗したとのこと。韓国は、宇宙開発計画に進出したくとも、米国の協力は断られ、ロシアとの共同で打ち上げロケットを開発したとのこと。南北北朝鮮のミサイル開発競争に発展しなければ良いのですが・・・一応、米国などは、韓国の宇宙開発の公明性は評価しているようです。

衆議院選挙公示日
８月１８日（18aug2009, Tue）衆議院選挙の公示日、いよいよ与野党決戦の開始。前回の衆議院選挙では、時の小泉首相の号令のもといわゆる刺客作戦で造反身内に対する対立候補者擁立で勢いを得自民党は大勝しました。今回は、その数を持て余し気味の自民党は、直前の都議会選挙のように大幅に議席を減らすことになるのか、その帰路に立たされた自民党を、果たして民主党は確実に追い落とす勢いを示せるのか、その長く熱い戦いは本日始まったばかり。

８月１５日、終戦の日
６４回目の終戦の日を迎え、政府主催の全国戦没者追悼式が東京都千代田区の日本武道館で開かれ、先の大戦で命を落とした約３１０万人に哀悼の意が表された。ややもすれば遠い記憶の彼方に追いやられがちな、この３１０万人（日本だけでの犠牲者数）の犠牲の下に、今日の日本の繁栄と平和がもたらされたという厳粛な事実を改めて思い出させてくれる日。

米国民主党の底力
The New York Times が、「クリントン氏が、ゴア氏のメディアで働くジャーナリストを北朝鮮からゴア氏（元副大統領）の下に連れ戻した。」と、元正副大統領の外交コンビネーションについてやや感傷的に報道をしていました。The New York TimesClinton and Gore, Together Again WASHINGTON - It was a stirring scene: Bill Clinton, the former president, and Al Gore, his former vice president, back together, sharing a long and emotional hug as Mr. Clinton delivered back to American soil from captivity in North Korea two journalists who worked for Mr. Gore.現職大統領のオバマ氏は、昨年の大統領選挙期間中も、弱点は外交とされていました。今回、北朝鮮に拘留されていた２名の女性記者の救出に当たっては、その弱点を、民主党の元正副大統領が共同戦線を張り補ったと言えなくもない事がよくわかりました。元来ブッシュ政権時代は、現在の北朝鮮の核開発問題は、クリントン政権時代の民主党政権の失政によるものと、ブッシュ前大統領などよく言い訳がましく前政権のせいにしがちでした。また、現ホワイトハウスとしては、クリントン元大統領の全く個人的な訪朝と白を切る状況もわかるような気がします。これは民主党の外交力を示したイベントだったのです。
