入院患者さんを受け持っていると夜間とか日曜日に必ずと言っていいくらい病院から
電話がかかってくる。電話に出られればいいが出たら切れてしまったとか運転中等の
場合など後からかけなおす。その場合まず病院の事務当直の人が受けてくれて私に電
話をかけてきた看護師を探してくれる。入院患者さんは2階、3階、４階にわたってい
るので各階に電話して探してくれて、電話した看護師がやっと分かってもその人が近
くにいないこともあり、何十分も待たされることがある。
今日電話がかかってきた時、出た時は既に切れていた。たまたまそこに妻がい合わせ
「病院からではないの、すぐ電話しなさいよ」と言われた。「こちらからかけるとす
ごく待たされるから嫌なのだよ」と言ったら「何を言っているのですか、仕事でしょ
まっているではないですか！？」と言われた。今まで夜中に電話がかかってくるのが
嫌だったし、こちらからかけなおすのはもっと嫌だった。しかし彼女の言葉で目が覚
めた。看護婦さんも困って電話してくるのだからそれを嫌がっているならプロではな
いと思った。電話がつながらなかった時には１０分後再度看護師の方から電話してく
れる方法を次回の病院会議で言おうと思うが、病院からの電話の重要性を改めて認識
した。
人から言われなければ当たり前のことに気づいておらず自らを反省した。

it. When the telephone is not connected, I will say in the next hospital
meeting to call from the nurse again after ten minutes, but I once again
recognized the importance of the telephone from the hospital by my wife’s
word.
I did not realize the commonplace without being told by other people, I
regretted myself.
