人種差別と移民　 Racial disparity and immigrants

アメリカで白人警察官によるアフリカ系の人に対する過剰な取り締まりが続き、これに抗議するデモが報じられている。日本でもこれに呼応して人種差別反対のデモをする人達がいるらしい。アメリカの人種差別をNHKが解説した番組がステレオタイプで実態を示していないと抗議があり、NHKが謝罪したという。しかしこの問題に限らず最近のアメリカのニュースは私には理解しにくいことが多い。人種差別には反対だがデモが過激化して商店を壊し商品を略奪している様子をテレビで見てショックを受けた。また、歴史的な銅像が次々と壊されているのも日本人の多くが違和感を持つと思う。さらにメキシコとの国境には豊かな生活を求めて南アメリカ諸国から移民が押しかけており、テレビで報道される小さい子供づれの家族にはだれもが同情を禁じ得ない。しかし考えてみると次々とやって来る移民をすべて受け入れるわけにはいかないのも当然だし、すでに多くの不法移民がアメリカに住んでおりその処遇も問題となっているという。こうした問題に厳しいのがトランプ大統領で、その評判はアメリカばかりでなく世界中で大変悪いようだ。アメリカとは事情が異なるが、日本でもし同じ問題が起こると、大部分の日本人はトランプ的な政策に賛成せざるをえないのではないだろうか。Protests are raging across the US against white police men killing blackmen. In line with global movement against racial disparity there were rallies in Tokyo. NHK reported "Black lives matter" movement on TV, which was criticized of being stereotype and far from its true picture. NHK apologized it. I am afraid that I similarly misunderstand some of the recent events in the US.I am definitely against racial disparity, but was shocked to see on TV some demonstrators destroying shops and looting goods. Another shocking TV footages from the US are angry people pulling down the statues of historic heroes. Immigrants from Latain American countries seeking safe and better life in the US draws attention worldwide. I was impressed by immigrant families with small children gathering at the border with the US in Mexico. I wish them to be allowed to enter the US. But I soon realized that the US may not afford to accept all of these immigrants. The US has already difficult issues of illegal immigrants living in the country. The president Trump appears to be severe in handling these problems and is criticized in and outside the US. But if we have the similar problems in Japan, we might choose Trump's way.
