Keenlyside wins opera prize, 2006 Laurence Olivier Award
Baritone Simon Keenlyside has been given the Outstanding Achievement in Opera Laurence Olivier Award in recognition of his performance in two major roles last year.
Keenlyside was not able to collect his Laurence Olivier Award at the ceremony. Instead tenor Toby Spence was on hand to accept the statuette on Keenlyside's behalf.
19:36 26 February 2006 Outstanding Achievement in Opera this year goes to Simon Keenlyside, who appeared in both the Royal Opera House production of 1984 and the ENO production of Billy Budd in 2005. Sir Simon Milton was on hand to present the award to possibly one of the busiest people in opera.
