On Thursday night, my wife gave me an order—“Have dinner out tonight!” So before my English conversation class, I hurriedly ducked into this place.
It had been a while since I last visited Gochiton; I’d hardly gone there at all over the summer. Their barley-miso tonjiru set meal, however, is truly excellent. This time, I decided to try something different and ordered the spicy miso chige set. It turned out to be far spicier than I’d expected, and I found myself mildly regretting not ordering a large bowl of rice.
Perhaps because tonjiru is the kind of dish people associate with colder weather, the restaurant seems to struggle to attract customers in summer. Still, it’s a place I genuinely hope will keep going strong.
