It sounds like a bad practice, but actually was the term for chopping trees and sending them downstream on the Ammonoosuc River to the mills. Easton also hosted New Hampshire's first CCC
(Civilian Conservation Corps) camp.The Wonder Fall Farm is home to myotonic goats. "Myotonic?" you say. The vernacular term is "fainting goats." This farm is located just off Route 116 on Gingerbread Road, and will surely be a highlight of conversation as you recount your trip to friends and relatives.
Easton is also the childhood home of Olympic skier Bode Miller , called "the most successful male American alpine ski racer of all time."
There are restaurants and lodging available nearby in both Sugar Hill , and Franconia (about seven miles).
If you are looking for small town appeal, Easton may be your destination.
