Littleton features charming homes, boutiques, and shops and has become a large retail zone. Close to St. Johnsbury, locals, tourists and Vermonters frequent the large grocers, big box chain stores, and numerous thriving downtown shops found here.

Littleton War MemorialsThe downtown area has undergone major renovations, and features an opera house , an artisanal microbrewery & beer pub , a covered bridge and a bronze statue honoring Pollyanna, the ultimate optimist of children's literature, created by author and Littleton resident, Eleanor H. Porter. Each June, the town celebrates " Pollyanna Glad Day ."

Dining choices include Tim-Bir Alley, 7 Main Street, which offers contemporary dining in an intimate atmosphere. Bailiwicks Fine Restaurant , at the Historic Thayer's Inn , 111 Main Street, offers a fine dining menu with many seafood choices. The Littleton Diner at 145 Main Street, offers the omelets, burgers and fries you want to give comfort to yourself and/or family.

Riverwalk Covered Bridge, Littleton, NHLodging in Littleton contains a refreshing collection of independent motels and bed and breakfasts. Thayer's Inn , built in 1843 offers great architecture, fine dining and romantic rooms. Also in the heart of downtown, the Littleton Motel at 166 Main Street offers clean rooms and a retro style that is a welcome change from cookie-cutter chains.

Camping includes the "big rig friendly" Crazy Horse Campground , which is just a few miles off I-93 exit 43. They offer a lake in the summer and snowmobiling in the winter. The KOA campground, six miles south of town on Route 302, offers a wide variety of amenities including cable TV, firewood, and a pavilion for camper use.

Outside Magazine honored Littleton as "One of America's Top Ten Dream Towns", in part because of the ample quality recreation opportunites nearby: "flatwater paddling on the Connecticut River, whitewater on the Ammonoosuc, cragging and hiking in the White Mountains, road and mountain biking in every direction, and skiing at Cannon Mountain ." Don't forget the River Walk ~ it's good exercise and a great way to the enjoy Littleton!
