The easy answer is a lot! We want to make a difference and offer help that works here in the North County. There's a world of difference between Nashua and Lancaster, Salem and Berlin, etc.How can our group's press releases/information be published?
We try hard to cover five things: a regional calendar, area events/recreation, lifestyle/home, business and health. Within those topics are things like parenting, finances, gardening, current news and more. Because of our love of kids/teens, proximity to Maine, Vermont & Quebec, and our fascination with all things science, outdoors, military and NASA, you'll see occasional articles about them as well.
We don't want people to just survive in the North Country: we want to help you thrive .
Businesses promoting staff, holding non-sales special events (grand openings / open houses, etc.) and government, churches and other non-profits holding seasonal or special events are encouraged to send your press releases or other information to news@upstatenh.com . Entertainment/Venues are particularly encouraged.Where do the articles and illustrations come from?
A little more than 2/3 rds the articles we publish come to us as press releases from businesses, the state and federal government. Most of the rest are written by freelance writers and our staff. Some of the illustrations come from free sources online, particularly freeimages.com but many are licensed through photographers or stock image sites. How big is the site? How much traffic does it get?
As of June 1st, 2017 the site had something just over a 1,000 pages, and monthly we're currently adding about 30-50 pages. Each month we serve 16-20K people, who together view 60K-70K pages. Traffic is up approximately 40% over last year.Is advertising available?
Yes, as business profiles and as banner ads on it's pages. We don't like a proliferation of advertising. We like the pages to be fresh, clean & attractive, chock full of content so advertising will never be 'lost in the shuffle.'If you are writing about the North Country, why is your office in Concord?
I had an office in Berlin in 2012/2013 but returned to Concord. There were many reasons, but as much as any of them, I missed my grandchildren.
