Mascoma Lake is about 4 miles long, covering nearly 1,200 acres, principally in Enfield, NH
, with a small portion extending into Lebanon
where the lake drains into the Mascoma River.Running approximately southeast to northwest, depths average about 30 feet, with a maximum depth of 68 feet. The State of NH maintains waterway access with a boat ramp in Enfield (43.630720 LAT, -72.157359 LON, Rt. 4A at Shaker Bridge) and a car-top facility in Lebanon (43.648322 LAT -72.181534 LON, Rt. 4A at Dam).Rainbow trout, brook trout, small mouth bass, large mouth bass, carp, chain pickerel, white perch, yellow perch, brown bullheads, and black crappie are all known to live in the lake. Fish & Game stocks the lake with approximately 3,000 trout annually.The town of Enfield
maintains a public beach, and the Northern Rail Trail
follows much of the 'quiet' end of the lake. The Mascoma Sailing Club
calls the lake home and annually hosts a regatta and sloop races. Dartmouth College maintains the Arthur E. Allen Boathouse there for its sailing team. Camping is available at Mascoma Lake Campground
. Gray's Marina (603-632-7308) is located opposite the lake on Route 4A.The Baited Hook (603-448-1133, seasonal) serves casual American menu food and ice cream from a waterfront location, and boat docking is welcome. Mickey's Restaurant
(American, Italian & Seafood) will do FREE local deliveries, and can cater your very own Lobster Bake.There are four bed and breakfasts in town, none immediately on the Lake. ►
