Landaff, NH
Landaff was actually a part of Vermont on two different occasions in the 1700s, as it joined with other towns in the area that were disappointed with their lack of representation in the new Hampshire state legislature.
The population of Landaff today is about 400, however in the era just before the Civil War, the population was nearly 1000, as farming and work in the bobbin mills created great prosperity.
Landaff has a local group called the Woodland Stewards, who work to maintain trails, light construction and other community minded projects. This group is also the primary overseer of the Tunnel Brook Trail in the White Mountain National Forest.
With an interesting history, and a strong sense of community involvement, Landaff is great little destination.
