TAMWORTH, NH
Remick Country Doctor Museum & Farm is gearing up for summer and as a special event, on Saturday, June 18, New Hampshire residents are invited to preview the 2016 season for free, simply by providing proof of residency upon arrival. During the hours of 10:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m., visitors will have the opportunity to learn about the growing and grazing season of a working farm, the history of country doctors and rural medicine, rural living traditions and the historic farmstead buildings. On the preview day (and throughout the 2016 summer season), visitors can meet-and-greet the featured barnyard animal of the day, try their hand at making a Remick-made craft and take a tour of the farm, buildings and barns. "Meeting Rosie and our dairy herd will again be a big part of our summer program and will include a public milking demonstration in Doc Remick's cattle barn," said Farm Manager Lindsey Peterson.Tours of the stately Captain Enoch Remick House (listed on the National Register of Historic Places), provide a glimpse into the lives of the Remick country doctors and those who settled the village of Tamworth. Built in 1808, the house features period architectural details, 19th-century murals, antique furnishings, an antique toy collection and the original doctor's office and medicine room. New this summer, the "A Visit to the Doctors Remick" tour will provide an in-depth look at what a visit to the doctor might have been like in the not-so-distant past.ABOUT THE MUSEUM: Remick Country Doctor Museum & Farm is a rural history museum and working farm located at 58 Cleveland Hill Road, in Tamworth Village, NH.
