A small town just south of Gorham, Shelburne offers great scenery, and some of the healthiest birch trees you have ever seen one of them may have been an inspiration for poet Robert Frost.
The Mount Washington Auto Road is located just 10 miles south. In fact, Shelburne is a short distance from just about any White Mountain activity.
Shelburne is named for William Petty, the Second Earl of Shelburne. He was a member of English Parliament who was born and raised in Ireland.
The Moriah Design Company calls Shelburne home. They produce many of the brochures you have collected at information centers across the state.
Lodging is available at The Town and Country Motor Inn, which offers a multitude of amenities including a health club and access to snowmobile trails. There are two bed and breakfast in town, The Mount Washington Bed and Breakfast, and the Philbrook Farm Inn.
Camping is available at White Birches, which offers hook up for the largest RVs. They offer cabin rentals, as well. Similar rentals and facilities are available at Timberland Campground.
With its unspoiled and dramatic landscape, and proximity to the tourist and shopping amenities in Gorham, Shelburne is both rustic and convenient.
