Warren, NH

Warren is named for Sir Peter Warren , an Irishman who made a name for himself as a master strategist in the British navy in battles against the French.

Among other things, the town of Warren is known for its RedstoneA Redstone ballistic missile on display in Warren, NHballistic missile that ornaments the town common. It was placed in honor of conservative Senator, and former Warren native, Norris Cotton .

Just across the town border in Benton was the State Sanatorium, which housed tuberculosis patients until 1970. It was thought that the clean mountain air was beneficial for healing.

There are a number of accomplished people from Warren, among them:
Joseph Monninger , the author of numerous novels including Family Man and Night Caller , as well as non-fiction, is a resident of Warren.

Bob Guida, State Legislator and international humanitarian activist is a Warren resident.
The Moose Hillock Campground offers the usual amenities, but also offers a poolside café offering breakfast, lunch and dinner: pretty fancy, heh? They also have an extensive water park with waterfalls and slides. For camping purists, the limited availability Ravine Lodge at Mount Moosilauke serves as a base camp for hikers. Bring your own towels and soap. Communal style meals are offered.
